Your Favorite Place To Visit

I have lived and worked in beautiful areas. Raised in wisconsin, worked in Yosemite and the grand tetons, lived and worked in about 9 or ten states. Now live in what they call "Color Country Utah". We live close to Zion, Bryce and about 10 miles from Cedar Breaks National parks. My point is I/you?, can live in the Garden of Eden and it can get boreing soon if you cant leave and have a change of scenery!
Many people think my area of the country is one of the prettiest, and it is, however I like a change of scenery almost every day. This morning I have been studying my maps trying to figure a new ATV ride this afternoon.
There isnt a trail in about a 50 mile center radius that we havent been on multiple times. I think almost all areas have some beauty if you havent seen it before or had to live there.
I have decided to take a 50 mile loop ATV ride this afternoon starting about 40 miles to the west of us, a barren unpopulated, not pretty area.
Just because I havent rode it in two years. I did fly near it a week ago and noticed it didnt have much snow so we are off!

I think my favorite place is the beach on the Red Sea just outside of Masawa in Eritrea. Be sure to bring plenty of sun screen. I have scars on my back from the shoulders on down!

I met some of the most interesting people there. The heavy salt content makes even bad swimmers look good.

The Amazon.....

Hey Walkin' Jack. That is one of the various species of Peacock Bass. We ate some small ones, but always released the big ones.

I don't travel much but my favorite place to visit is this mom and pop gun shop in Pekin Illinois and I visit regularly.

The beach is my spiritual home. I love the crowds of my friends and my family but I revel in being on the beach alone. I have resolved many a personal problem standing in the surf under a full moon. ...

I grew up in Hawai'i so the Pacific will always be my home. I have seen sights most locals won't see. We used to hunt in some pretty remote places not available to most people. I used to love to sit high on a mountain top and look at the sunrise over the Island chain on remote Molokai.

Sunrise on the beach as we slept with our sleeping bags on the sand with no tent and with our nets in the water. Or night spear fishing and seeing all those glowing lobster eyes looking back at us.

Watching a lightning storm over the Pacific.

In Washington, I used to hike a lot. There were some spectacular views, Emerald Lakes in particular, but Hawai'i I will always consider home.

We just vacationed in Oneida Co. Wisconsin where my dad took us when we were kids. I'd forgot how much I loved it there. 1000+ lakes and over 200 miles of hiking trails. Oh - And SEASONS!
Right everyone that retires goes south - We're heading for the Minocqua/Hazelhurst area when my wife retires in about 2 years :)

Thanks Box, I'd have never seen this thread if you hadn't resurrected it from the depths. Some truly spectacular stuff from all over and lyrical prose from Walkin'Jack for a bonus.

I am right now in my favorite spot in the world; feet up, comfortable chair with my wife and dog nearby and chicken in the oven. Life's pretty good.

If I could be elsewhere I would be on a front porch 400 ft. over the firehouse in Otto, NC with my father seeing the view across 441 toward Scaly Mt. The trees along the road will have peaked in their color by now, the slopes have a ways to go.

My mother, brother and myself have since scattered his ashes among the hemlocks he planted to honor his grandchildren as they were born. All five (ten) grew large and healthy over the years just as he prayed they would.

Dad's gone, the place has sold and I doubt I will see that part of the world anytime soon. I love that area and will miss it. From Tellico to the Chatooga, from the Chillowees to the Blue Ridge with the AT running through.

Mom's birthday (84) this weekend, going to Lake Placid.
Anybody got a boat that will pull me on skis?
Might find a new favorite spot!

I live in the Pacific Northwest, I don't wanna go anywhere else. When I think of someplace to visit I think about New Orleans...I love that town...I like to go there just prior to Mardis Gras, the weather is usually really nice at that time of year compared to freezin cold like it is here. The people are very hospitible, friendly in fact, the food is amazing and I love that Abita beer. Throw a bucket a mudbugs on the table with a bucket full of beer in ice...it don't get much better than that, no sir!
