Your Favorite TV Show Theme Songs

I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread. I now have these songs playing in my head all competing for the top spot.

Am I the only one who likes the "This Old House" theme song?

My memory....

Sorry, but Hawaii Five O comes in second to this.

I found myself visualizing shows I liked, but couldn't remember the music, which pretty much put them out of the running even if they had a pretty good theme. I've always put Secret Agent right up there but left it out, probably thinking of Peter Gunn threw me off.

Mr. Ed. goes in the funny category. Fond memories of this show. My favorite was when Mr. Ed was pretending he had the mumps to get out of something by tying a scarf with apples in it tied at the top of his head. Wilbur caught on and found the apples and Mister Ed was still making excuses and said he was hungry. Wilbur told him, "Here, you can eat your mumps!"

A few notes and the worst....

When doing a variety benefit the director had us jump up and down and sing "The Brady Bunch". It did put you in the right frame of mine.

One thing I like about "The Rifleman" is the 'clip clop' sound in the background.

The worst I remember was a show called 'Captain Nice':

There was an equally bad show called 'Mr. Terrific" but the lyrics were clever. NOTE: The following lyrics were not sung. They were recited with background music.

A scientist both wise and bold
Set out to cure the common cold
Instead he found a power pill
Which he said most certainly will
Change a lamb into a lion
Like an eagle he'll be flyin
Solid steel will be like putty
It'll work on anybody.

Then it was found this power pill
Made the strongest men quite ill
So the secret search began
To find the one and only man
Who can take this power pill specific?
And turn into the most prolific, terrific, Mr. Terrific!

"It's About Time" was really awful.

"It's about Time, it's about Space"
"About two men in the strangest place...."

"Low Rider" George Lopez

I hate "Suicide is Painless", if I can get through that, M.A.S.H. is a good show.

Also if I could get past the opening theme I liked "My Mother the Car" when it was on.

I keep seeing "Batgirl". I couldn't remember it so I looked it up. Yeah, it's bad all right.

In the so bad, it's good category - "Gilligan's Island"

Got sick of it pretty quick. Captain and Tenille "Love Will Keep Us Together" was a good pop song but a lousy theme opener. The only thing that made the show worth watching was Toni Tennille.

AND Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe". Talk about getting old, and it turns out they really didn't have each other because they finalized their divorce on the show but still had to act married which didn't really work.

Even kids knew that the 'Barney' theme stunk. They sang:

"I love you, you love me, let's get together and kill Bar-ney"
"With a one shot, two shot, three shot, four"
"No more purple dinosaur."

In the "I can name that tune in one note category" - Johnny Carson Tonight Show.

Oh, another favorite: The ORIGINAL theme to 'Lost in Space'

I remember as kids we did things to the "Daniel Boone theme". Something about the bear being bigger and him running away that was pretty awful.

Who can forget "Branded"

Stranded, stuck on the toilet bowl
What do you do when you're stranded
and you can't reach the roll.
To prove you're a man you must wipe with your hand.... Anyway, I've always thought that my sense of humor was stuck in the 5th grade.

Mission Impossible was cool but now it sounds dated.

Faster than a speeding bullet (need I say more?)

Top Cat - still fun after all these years.

Don't forget the (orginal) Olympic Theme

Beverly Hillbillies - Flatt and Scruggs were PERFECT

I think if I heard the "Flipper" theme now I would get violently il.

Woody Woodpecker - You can't be in a bad mood while listening to it.

Bad show with a good theme: Rango with Tim Conway

(sung by Frankie Laine)

From out of the west came an unknown vest

And TV used to sign off with style. "The Star Spangled Banner" and "High Flight".
The gun of Rango, Rango, Rango

He wore a star, wore a Texas star
This man called Rango, Rango, Rango

From San Anton to the Rio Grande
Down mountain peaks or desert sands
Every outlaw feared the hand of danger
This Texas Ranger
Rango, Rango, Rango.

Who could forget to list the, Pink Panther themes? which was by Henry Mancini......

I loved the theme song from Sons Of Anarchy. My friends thought I was crazy for even watching.

They are the crazy ones for NOT watching it, the final season was quite a ride. Speaking of songs, the one played during the final scenes of SOA couldn't have fit any better.

Theme from the short lived Firefly series.

Great series if you haven't seen it.

"Man from UNCLE" and "Rawhide" also.
