Your J-frame Stocks

Good suggestions and grear pics. The Taurus thing is interesting!. I have and really like shooting my J-frames with the UM Combats, they just don't hide" well. The Badgers look very nice.

I'm thinking I'll try the Tylers first (I love those Stags!)

Here's my pair of J-frames. The 649 on top wears Hurst cocobolo (already posted here) and the 442 below wears Hurst Micarta. John Hurst was an LA cop, phenominal marksman and a great stockmaker.

It just dawned on me that I have NO factory magnas for my J-frames. Both of them came w/UMs! I wanted to try the Tylers with the wood factory grips. Another quest.

I can't imagine owning J frames without some factory magnas around. :)

I prefer the older diamond grips. They are a bit smaller and rounder on the bottom. The newer ones are more blocky.

It's nice to see a Del Fatti holster with some character. I am so used to seeing pics of Matt's stuff when it's shiny, new. My J frame grips are Crimson Trace 105's no help with recoil, but great for dry fire and trigger control practice. I did buy a pair of Spegel, Centennial, grips that are still waiting for a home. Anyone want to sell their 940?

in wood grips, nothing better than craig spegel boot grips. these are in smooth panama cocobolo in standard + grade. price? $60 directly from craig.

For RB or SB steel guns, and for SB aluminum guns, stock Magnas and a Tyler. For my hand, a .38 RB aluminum J-frame kicks enough that I need to leave the Tyler off and just use the Magna grips (so that the knuckle of my middle finger doesn't get rapped).

YMMV.

I added Eagle Secret Service grips to my M42 and they greatly improved comfort. The only problem I have is that there isn't quite enough clearance for speed-loaders. I can use speed-loaders, but they rub the grip, which slows me down. Wadcutter's, with their shorter length, are much easier for me to load. Which brings me to this question; 38-44HD45, what's the story with the wadcutters in the bottom right of your second picture? Does the deep groove promote expansion? Are those homemade? If not, who makes them? Thanks

Mine all wear the S&W boot grips now. The magnas just don't fit my hands at all and I put shots all over the paper with them while these allow me to shoot 2" groups at 10 yards.
I tried the Hogue Bantams also, and liked the way they felt in the hand, but they tend to stick to the linings of my pockets which makes the gun harder to draw.

I picked up a set of factory banana grips for my 640-1at a show over the weekend,I'm suprised how comfortable they are.

I don't mean to hijack this interesting thread - just digressing a tad...

I can answer your question if 38-44HD45 doesn't chime in soon.

I also have a supply of these bullets (not ammo) in .357" and .451" for my personal reloads. The below pics show the 200 grain .45 Colt handloaded with 10 grains of Unique -

Those are Safe Stop bullets that were made by the late Jim Cirillo. They are very hard to find I wish I could find some.
I recived these pics from his business partner "Fuzzy" Fletcher who said at this time the Cirillo family will not let him produce these
