Your opinion on Bodyguard 2.0 vs LCP Max?

Everyone is going to have a complaint of some kind no matter how good a product is.
I read about the BG 2.0 and saw the complaints but bought one anyway and I can attest to the fact that it's been flawless. The complaints about the sights are valid and the mags are a bitch to fill until broken in a bit but it's never failed, even with crappy Russian steel cased ammo.
That's my 2 cents.

I have both. I prefer the BG 2.0 over the LCP Max.

You must have both in your hand in order to decide what is more comfortable for you. If you get the chance, shoot both and see which you prefer. This is really about you and your choice.

I have both. Both had minor issues. I had the Max first. It shot very low, ended up replacing the sights with S&W BG 1.0 sights, it now shoots to point of aim. Also had the magazine fall out on occasion, replaced the mag release spring with a (stiffer) Glock spring cut to length, problem was resolved.

My Bodyguard sights had to be adjusted, but no other problems.

The Ruger is decent, but the S&W is better- better finish, softer shooting, better ergos.

Held a Bodyguard 2.0 today.

Holy smokes...The size of it you cannot appreciate from videos online. It truly is about the size of your hand. And holding it felt like I was holding a slim full size gun. It was absolutely wild.

I must have one now. However I am really debating on waiting until I see the comp version in person.

I've owned both a BG-2 and Ruger Maxx. Of the two I liked the BG-2 better. I shot the BG-2 low left...the Ruger just plain low. Both worked just fine but I got rid of both and bought a Sig 365-380. I'll be keeping that one.

I actually prefer the EZ 380, but that's a different animal.

Does XS sell the front sight only? Are you using it with the OEM rear? Tell us a little more.
Thanks,
Moon
I have wondered this as well. They don't list them separately. I don't mind the wide OEM rear but would like a more visible front in green.

The new comp version seems to have a brighter green front. Wonder if Smith would sell one?

This may well be, however, as a satisfied user of Night Fision sights, I contacted them several weeks ago to inquire if they will be offering their Accur8 sights for the BG2.0 any time soon. Their prompt reply indicated they hope to have the Accur8 product for the BG2.0 on the market around September 1st. this year. I'll be buying a set then.
This looks to be another great option to correct the S&W out of alignment sight issue.
Their sights have height options. I assume for elevation adjustment.
I am interested in your experience when you get them and can make a comparison.

Thank you for posting this.

I have both, and while I like the BG 2 better as far as feel in my hand and comfort while shooting, I shoot the Ruger much better. It very well could be the sights on the BG 2. I didn't know anyone made aftermarket sights for it, so I'll probably look into replacing them to see if that helps.

NB: no safety, you need to put this one in a decent pocket holster if you're going to carry it that way (and, of course, not carry anything else in that pocket).

I shot a friend's early Bodyguard 2.0. I liked that a safety was available (the one I shot had it) - since OP wants to throw it in the pocket of light shorts, this is noteworthy (I'd still strongly insist a good quality pocket holster would be crucial to such carry). It was reliable (and has remained so for my friend).
Ruger recently announced that the LCP Max is available with a manual safety.

I won't buy a BG380-2 because you have to remove the whole rear sight to get the striker out and as a competition shooter I KNOW that the striker and channel needs to be clean and dry to be reliable. I have an LCP Max. I put McCarbo parts in it so I can shoot it more accurately
It's a shame to have to spend more money just to make a gun work right. My Sig 238 is perfect with no add on's.

I need a pocket pistol terribly. I want a 10+1 380 that I can truly throw in a draw string shorts and go out with the family.

I've been looking at the LCP Max and the BG 2.0

I really, and I mean really want to like the BG 2.0 but I've seen and read so many issues (same issues, not numerous). They are dead triggers and really poor accuracy.
Apologize for being 78 & opinionated. Modern plastic offerings with many small parts & springs are unacceptable for ME.
Here are my CC Favorite Choices - accurate & reliable 9x18 mm (is more potent than .380).
>I own a pair of Russian Makarovs (Bulgarians are identical & cheaper) one is 9x18, other is .380, both have FAB DEFENSE grips.
>For lighter clothes I use my smaller polish P-64 in 9x18 I put in a lighter hammer spring + heavier recoil spring - A beauty.
Both of the above use the fixed barrel & similar system to WALTHER PPKs, they are narrow, 100% reliable & will last forever.
>best deal on market these days is the 9mm Zastava M88A Very similar to, & works like early Colt pocket pistols. I improved mine by removing magazine safety. It is a compact TOKAREV, & although slightly larger, it is easily concealed & quite good.
I trust them all with my life - & recommend them as permanent outstanding assets.

Funny you should ask. I called Smith, and they had none to sell, currently, but said it was an Ameriglo product. I ordered two from them, and they were perfect for height and width...but very loose in the dovetail. I used a fine centerpunch to raise some metal, and promptly broke the ears on both.
This new thing with sightmakers, where they make the sight too loose, and expect you to use stick-em-pucky to hold the sight...just make the dovetail oversize, and let us fit them.
Not sure what Smith is doing, it may be they have adjusted their own dovetails.
Anyway, it was a disappointment, as it gave a great sight picture. Ameriglo has been great about a refund.
BTW, I've substituted BG1.0 rear sights on my gun, and that actually gives a good sight picture with the OEM front. Sadly, the OEM doesn't show well (Smith went cheapjack on these), and I've put a dab of white paint on instead. It actually works much better.

About the same here. I think this place is populated with either the most unlucky gun owners or it's just high fashion to complain about anything other than high polish and ivory.

Actually, did a little of that. But the advice has always been to pound on the replaceable part....

That is good advice but as you found out the sight is fragile. I have always center punched the slide and used locktite. Rockset would be better water will desolve it no need for heat.

Thanks for the info. Too bad about the Ameriglos looks like exactly what I want

I will wait till more options become available. I don't hate the OEM ones but as you say the orange front does not show well
