Your pistol powder "trinity"

I only handload 38 spl, 357 magnum and 45 ACP so there is nothing unusual here: Unique, Power Pistol and 2400.

If any local retailer ever gets in some 300-MP, I will give it a try in my 357 loads. It is supposed to be darned good out of a carbine.

For nearly all of our shooting we use Green Dot far more than any other powder (38 Spl HBWC, 38 spl and 357 158 grain LSWC loads, 44-40, and 24 and 28 gram 16 gauge loads).

Much lesser amounts of H110 for max 357 158 and 180 grain jacketed bullet loads, and 2400 for same use with jacketed 158 grainers, as well as higher velocity 44-40 jacketed bullet loads, as well as, Blue Dot for medium velocity 357 and higher velocity 38 spl loads.

Small amount of Hodgdon 777 FFg in smoky loads for one original BP revolver, made in 1890.

1. SR-4756--For extra-hot .38 Special loads and for moderate to warm loads in .44 Special, .41 mag., .45 Colt and .357 mag. Also for top-end loads in .38 Super and 9x23.

2. Unique-Mid-range loads in many calibers.

3. WW296/H110- Full-power magnum loads.

The above three are just the ones I use in greatest volume. I also load a lot with WW231/HP38, Viht N320, 340 and 350, Herco, AA#5 and AA#7. AA#7 is about the only powder I load in 9x19, but I use Herco when I run out of #7. AA#5 used to be my favorite for .40 S&W, but I've mostly switched to N340 for .40. When Winchester still made 452AA, I loaded lots of it in .45 ACP.

Right now it is :
Titegroup
Unique
2400

I am considering replacing the Titegroup with Bullseye when have to buy more powder. Mainly because I shoot cast in .40 and Tigegroup is not recomended for that. I have found it is easy to jump the pressure up in .40 with Titegroup.

Bullseye
Unique/Universal (I have both)
2400

I find I don't have much use for either Unique or Universal. For what I shoot, Bullseye works just as well. When they are used up they won't be replaced.

That gets me down to Bullseye (for almost everything) and 2400 (for the occasional .357).

I've found over the years that we can make just about any powder made for handguns work and work well if we put in the time. Of course velocities will suffer with the fastest powders, but accuracy is there. If I could only have 3 powders, I would take 231/hp-38, AA7 and 296/110. I can get great results in all my handguns with these three.

Bullseye
W231
2400

I occasionally use Unique also, but these are the only four pistol powders i've used for over 20 years. If it ain't broke .......
