your 'run for your life' guns

I'd just be found dead of a heart attack in my gun room from the stress of trying to make that decision.

What to take, what to abandon. What to take, what to abandon. What to tak.... aaakkkk!

Easy for my, I only own 2 :-) my SD9 and my Mossberg 12 gauge. The question does remind me I need to pick up a sling for the shotty in case of alien attack.

So you been using those revolvers as a hammer? Did you just find them in a pond? They ain't more reliable than my old S&W revolvers.

I'm not letting this Glock Forum hero get away with this one!:p

Sir, no offense, but if you haven't had a revolver failure, you haven't shot them enough.

Hope this helps, and Semper Fi.

If I still owned a 1911 that would be number one, but I don't. So it would be the 2 M-66's and my M 60 that is on long term loan to the "lovely and Charming."

The first thing I would look at is the ammo situation. Just loaded a thousand 9's so the M+P9C is first (and my wife would have it!).
And again based purely on ammo-at-hand, the Highway Patrolman.

* Note to self - buy shotguns and reloading supplies for same.

Why leave?

That tasteful T-shirt about snipers, "Don't run, you'll just die tired" suggests that staying put is a good idea. You know, home, hearth and food, HK 308 w/multiple mags (me), Bushmaster with scoped Wilson upper w/multiple mags (her).

If there is anything left, break out the Thompson and M629. Do you meen I have to get off the stool by my reloading bench?

The aliens that have landed on my rooftop have been quite friendly. No need to run away from them , or shoot them. Besides , they have a 'force' like thing going , a telekinetic power that can either stop , or deflect any type of projectile.

Colt stainless lightweight Commander in .45 ACP. Same gun I carry every day now.

I'd swap the department's Colt M-16 for my own IMBEL FAL-type rifle. .308 Winchester/7.62x51, "para" folding stock, Q.D. scope mount, a dozen aluminum 20 round magazines full of AP. Semiauto .308 would seem preferable to full auto .223 gopher rounds unless them aliens are a lot smaller than us and very furry...

And a good, sharp, small skinning knife for if them aliens are at all tasty. And a good can of Lawry's Seasoning Salt to make them more so.

I know the question is "what would u take", but I have read a few blips on other sites and this one, so now I have a couple of questions. How do u make the decision what to take? Some have elaborated on their answers in this thread, & I have learned a lot. Thanks! But, I have also read about pneumatic rifles that will shoot a pellet faster than a .22, quieter, & it will take small game. I believe they pump up, so storing just pellets would be lighter almost limitless. Is a suppressed .22 as quiet? Previously mentioned is taking small game without giving away position & weapons. Also, the interchangeability of handgun & rifle ammo sounds good to me, along with family running with weapons having a common caliber. We have more 9mm than any other sidearms, so by default. . . Thanks!

I keeping with the OP's restrictions, my choices would be my Springfield Armory Mil-Spec and my Vector AKM set-up with a Kobra red-dot sight and tactical light.

Assuming it was a "Run for your life" as suggested, I would NOT and I wanted to add a 3rd gun, it would be my S&W 442 in a pocket for a last-ditch "get off me" situation.

Minimum carry with maximum effectiveness needs to be the thought process. I'm not as young as I used to be.

So what I'm hearing here is that a Block, I mean Glock, never fails ??????

So why even consider anything else. S&W, Springfield, Ruger, Taurus, Walther, Kimber, Sig, Beretta, Kahr, etc. might as well just close up, lock the doors. God builds Glocks.

I might not put 20,000 rounds through my revolvers a year but I can't recall any failures due to anything but ammo. I don't shoot anything revolverwise but S&Ws and Rugers, no crummy el cheapos. I might have 1K through my Modell 66 in two or three years, no failures.

Sorry guys, and I have all the respect in the world for vets & LEOs but I ain't buying it. By the way you should contact the Defense Department, the're carrying Berettas, some special units still carry 1911s, why aren't they carrying Glocks?
