Your screen name, what does it mean.

MTS is the abbreviation for Midtown South, the precinct I was assigned to when I joined the forum. I have since been transferred (happily) so it really isn't relavent anymore. Easy enough to remember though.

MTS Cop, shoot me an e-mail if you see this. Yours is not in your profile. I have some questions about your beat, if you don't mind.

Amateur golfers are refered to as "hackers", when I joined I was just starting out training in gunsmithing... hence the handle "Gunhacker".

In retrospect, I wish I thought about it a bit more as "hacker" has become such a negative term thanks to the antics on the internet from such characters.

That's all right. I'm too old for "hacker" to be a bad thing. I figgered you were a gunsmith, that did custom work. Took a gun and a cutting implement, and hacked at the gun until it was right.

On the other hand, I thought a beginning golfer was a duffer.

When my son was between two and three, he called some of his toy trucks bimmer trucks. We tried time and time again to determine exactly what made a truck [or car] a bimmer truck but was never able to do so. We would hold up one and he would call it a bimmer truck, and another almost identical and it was not.

It wasn't color, size, type, electric or non...we could never determine what to him made it a bimmer truck! The only thing to do was wait until he could talk in sentences and then he would be able to tell us what a bimmer truck was.

Finally, after months of speculation and anticipation, we asked the question and received his answer...WHAT?...I DON'T KNOW!!

My son is now 32 years old and I would still like to know...WHAT IS A BIMMER TRUCK???

Blessings, Paul

Well, I guess because every night I get in my car drive to Seattle get into a garbage truck and hual trash to the dump.
Isn't it funny how you can take a job at the time out of desparation just to pay the bills and before you know it 15 or 20 years later its just who you are. Its not a great job, but it pays well and in todays economy at least its steady work. And believe it or not you would be surprised how many of the guys work with have degrees, but chose to stay a garbage man.

Well guess i might as well jump in and tell too.

I chose "Half Scale" because i build 1/2 scale fully functional semi auto Browning Machine guns, 1917 water cooled, 1919 air cooled, and the M2.

Someone want to tell me what that says? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Trashman, ain't nothing wrong with what you do. You provide a service, without which the City of Seattle would wallow in it's own filth. Although having seen some of the inhabitants, I think some might prefer it that way.

Because I like railroad stuff, especially collecting insulators.

That is true, it's my understanding too that a REALLY bad golfer is called a hacker, for which I am immanently qualified. Whoever invented Golf surely had a sadistic streak... the best (and funniest) explination of the creation of Golf I've heard has got to be the one that Robin William's did in one of his early comedy club performances... pants peeing material.

A bit of a take off on a Riders In The Sky titled Palindrome. Done to the tune of Paladin it starts out something like...

"Palindrome, palindrome, what's in a name.
Palindrome, palindrome, both ways the same."

As our Canadian brothers would say, "A race car a."

Packin-Heat is the name of the new business my wife and I are starting. We are in the process of having a line of custom made holsters and conceal carry ladies handbags made overseas.

We should have our website up and running in the next 6 months.

It will be www.packin-heat.com
