Youtube.....it's my channel, so butt out.

I get a lot out of YT. It's been very useful for home repairs, car repairs & maintenance, and the like. You do run into people who don't know what they are talking about, but it gets obvious quickly. If I don't know how to turn off some annoying feature of Windows, YT is a great place to find that information.

I'm not a plumber or a carpenter so I get a lot out of How To Videos by the likes of The Honest Carpenter and See Jane Drill.

For product comparisons, (motor oil, chain saws, which is the best? "Let's Find Out!") the guy who does Project Farm is great.

For gun-related stuff, in addition to the ones already mentioned, I like Symth Busters and Massad Ayoob.

I watch Utube video's on
Jobs I am going to do ,
I have made a living with my
Hands and can tell pretty quick
If the person I am watching knows
What he doing
Some are good some are bad some
are down right stupid.

GB490 has an ego issue and just because someone doesn't have to legally allow other views, opinions, statements or anything he views as a threat to his so called expertise, does not mean they shouldn't be allowed to speak their mind. That is how people learn and discover new information about any subject. While he self claims to be an expert on any subject he makes a video about, there is ALWAYS a new aspect, new technique or new information to learn no matter how long you have been doing something. He obviously is very close-minded and was probably bullied as a youth.

I stopped watching his channel a long time ago and while he may know a thing or two about firearms, IMHO the man is a horses ***!

So I never heard of this guy, gunblue490. I checked out his video and was shocked. I expected a tacticool Millennial based on what you guys were saying. Turns out he's just a know it all old man. He's what 80-90% of the guys at gun shows and gun clubs are. They are set in their ways. They know more than you and look down at anyone who would dare to disagree with them. Luckily the OTHER 10-20% are on this forum.

I have been around firearms all my life - my Dad and Uncle were in LE and they were into this as well. I have been shooting since I was old enough to hold a Red Ryder and had my own .22 rifle at 11 (still have it). I feel I know quite a bit about firearms, how to shoot, how to repair and how to maintain them however there are about a dozen or so members here that I have learned from and continue to do so - thank you! I am always learning and while I am confident (and stubborn sometimes) I am also more than willing to learn and admit when I am wrong - and why. Am I perfect? Absolutely NOT, and I try and tell myself all the time I may not always be right! Humans NEED to always keep an open mind.

My observations have been a little different but probably as valid. I've seen very little YouTube video gun stuff, but enough to know there are better ways of getting good information, like some select edited websites and reading books. YouTube might be best for faucet repairs and comparisons of hemorrhoid ointments.

As for the 80%-90% of the guys at gun shows and gun clubs that know everything...I do gun shows occasionally and also shoot at a private gun club at least once a week. Done these things for years. The 80%-90% have been absent for a long time. It's been a welcome respite not having to be around gun hotshots and maestros, "experts" who really enjoy arguing and imposing their opinions on others.

I think these guys have all retreated to Internet forums where they can preach from a computer at 3AM while dressed only in their drawers. It's much more convenient than having to put on clothes and drive somewhere.
