Zero in distance?

I agree with Wise A on this.
A front sight only or no sight at all is the way to go at SD ranges.
I have no delusions about being cool calm and collected in a gun fight especially at 21’.
If I live through one I will need a change of clothes from the waist down and some serious counseling.
I practice with my SD guns minus the sights. I know this is how they will be used in a poo storm.

I read it. I'm just a sucker for visual aids.

It's interesting. I'm wondering now if that screw provides most/all the tension in holding the rear sight in place. If so, sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Although I did retrieve a Trijicon front sight from the parking lot the other week, before handing it back to the young fella that was looking for it downrange.

am i missing something the op is army and cant figure out how to 0 his gun.you cant make this stuff up.

My feeling is that if it is a SD / EDC gun then 10 yards should be about perfect. Shooting someone at a distance of more than 30 feet probably won't be considered SD by a jury. Most compacts I know of don't have elevation adjustments so other than bullet weight and charge weight, how are you intending to "zero-in" a compact? Usually what changes at distance is the elevation, not the windage. Just saying.

IMHO a Compact is for close up and personal social work when it would more than likely just be pointed and not precisely aimed.

I would be inclined to agree. The question wasn't "how", it was "What are your guys thoughts as to distance?".

And protip: presuming everyone working for the Defense Department is a trigger-puller makes you sound especially ignorant.

South of Orlando we hunt with fishing rods and carry Mouse Guns.
On the bench at 20-25yds I make sure windage is correct.
Point and shoot with the LCP and the P238HD and S&Walther PPKs get point and shoot and practice with the sights.

No holes in an 8”11” paper at 10yds last week.
Holes above and below with windage okay.
LCP drawn from pocket and rapid fire.
Duct taped the LCP to my boat and dusted off the Sig.

My experience with my SCCY 9mm is not much better. I can keep most hits somewhere on an 8-1/2" x 11" paper target at 15 yards from a bench rest using a center hold. At 5 yards, I can keep most shots in the black of the same target. Suppose that's going to have to be good enough for SD use. I have yet to try instinctive shooting with the SCCY.
