This 5906 is already sighted in for 124 +P Gold Dots. So, these 115 +P+ Feds hit a bit low. Not enough to justify adjusting the sights, though. These were done as first shot equivalents by lowering the hammer before each. Please just ignore that high left stray (seems there’s always gotta be one spoiler).

Ah, the old 9BPLE load. It was a good performer in the 1990's and for a 115 grain JHP, it's still a good choice today. Personally, I prefer Federal's 147 grain HST standard pressure load, but there are still a lot of 9mm users who like the lighter weight, very fast loads.

In typical handguns, while bullet speed can effect POI elevation some, bullet weight usually has more impact (pun unavoidable), with heavier bullets shooting higher than lighter ones, sometimes dramatically so.

Here’s the same 5906, with its MMC adjustable rear sight at the same elevation setting, but with 124gr. bullets:

(That was a particularly good day. But again, there’s always gotta be one spoiler. It’s like a law or something.)

With a fixed sighted pistol, the difference can at times render some bullet weights practically unusable. The difference can even exceed the adjustment range of an adjustable rear sight and therefore require substitution of a different height front sight.
