Glock to discontinue Gen4

I have had at least one Glock in my meager firearm collection since '85. I currently have 2 19's, a G3 and a G5. Also have a G3 17. I like the 19 G5 except for the cut out on the bottom grip front like a G2. G3's are my favorite and I'm kicking myself for selling a G3 26 to a friend a couple months ago. I swear the G3 slide finish is better than the G4 or G5's.

I've owned a number of Glocks, but IMO the Gen 3s became obsolete when the Gen 4s came out. I never understood the hardcore loyalty of Gen 3 lovers. There is nothing I can see the 3s doing better than the 4s. I can also see no real improvement on the Gen 5s unless you are a lefty. Maybe they can get back to making models in all the calibers instead of just pumping out 6 new "minor cosmetic differences" 9mm models a year and ignoring all the other calibers. As far as the finish, Gen 3s might have had a better finish back when they were the current Gen, but current production finish is no different between Gen 3 and 4s, Austrian or USA produced...

This is JMO, but it doesn't really seem to matter what "generation" a Glock pistol is. They are a utility tool and the changes from one generation to the next are minimal and mostly cosmetic IMO. I really can't see the need to keep adding new generations.....kinda like having a Gen-1,2,3,4,5 etc. hammer.

Somehow I've come to have five Glocks ( two Gen-3 23's and three Gen-4's ... a 19, a 26, & a 27). And I just counted....I have four hammers, but I don't know what generation any of them are. ;)

Does this mean that people will finally love Gen 4s, and complain that they aren’t being made anymore...

I have mostly gen2 Glocks but also have a G40 MOS gen4 and a G19 MOS gen5. I wish the G40 was a gen5. I like the G19 gen5 just fine. I like it a lot, as does the wife. I don't get the complaint about the fingernail cut on the grip. I never notice it's there. They all work great including my gen2's. I'd kinda like a gen5 G20 MOS. I'd also like to shoot a G29 to see if I want one. I do like the G40 a lot even though a gen4 I bought a .40 barrel for it so I could shoot cheaper. It functions great with all brands of .40 I've tried and drops the brass about a foot to my right. Obviously almost too much spring but 100% function. Glocks obviously won't qualify as barbecue guns but oh well!
