Yesterday my neighbor lady told me she is "babysitting" her friend's dog who just had a litter of puppies (7 surviving; one died). I came over tonight to see them. They are so CU-U-U-U-TE!!!

The mother dog and her puppies stay in the basement so they can be by themselves and not be bothered by the dog upstairs. It is nice and warm in the basement, and there is a heating pad the dogs can lie on if they get cold.

I do not know the breed of dog. They are about two weeks old.

Cute little buggers for sure. Which one are you taking home?

^^^^^That sure makes a lot more sense than my guess. I could not imagine why a Louisiana bay dog breeed would be in Minnesota! But they sure have the coloration and Catahoula's are excellent overall dogs like most working breeds.

My own dog is a corgi/terrier mix that came from Alabama, so you never know what dog might be living in Minnesota! This was her first winter, and it was a bad one. She suffered during the worst of it; she would go outside, but then her feet would get cold and I would have to carry her back into the house. This went on for about two months (Jan & Feb), but the worst is behind us for this year. Please, send us all the "global warming" you can spare!

Here is a picture of my dog. I have only had her since last July, but I would not trade her for any amount of money:

I have not seen the father, but the mother weighs about 45 pounds, I would guess. She looks like some kind of herding dog (my neighbor could not remember the breed). She is a great dog, very calm and gentle. She did not mind at all when I looked at her pups. I told her she was a good dog, and I could tell she liked that!

I agree, Aussie's. They are one of the best companion dogs if you exercise them and teach them well. I have had 5 over the years. They are a wonderful dog.

Aussie Shepherd was my first thought, noticed the tri color coat but way too young to tell.
The Catahoula pic was of a fine looking critter also.
I've known several Aussie's but never had one. Great animals, lively, athletic and smart. Very friendly but can be ultra protective of their chosen one.

Hope you're not trying to talk yourself out of taking one home...
