I don't think they were made for the handgun shooter.
Like most 22 ammo they shoot ok in a handgun, but they shine in a 24" T-Bolt. I would like to run them over a chronograph out of a pistol to see if they have much more velocity than a high speed 22 long rifle.

I've got data here for Velocitors from one particular M&P Compact .22 with normal 40-grain ammo as well as a couple other types (Federal and Aguila) of "fast premium" 40-grain ammo. I've seen the CCI Velocitors produce better results than these from different guns, but you can see here that they were only slightly better than regular 40-gr high speed ammo from this pistol - and that the Aguilas and Federals outpaced the Velocitors by a notable bit:

Those numbers probably go up a bit in a 6" compared to his 3.5" barrel.

I've shot a bunch of boxes of 40 grain Velocitors over the years and have not noticed any "dirty issues". What I have noticed is that while their velocities are pretty impressive in rifles, they are not nearly as accurate as standard velocity or even High Velocity ammo is in my rifles. The groups spread out at least an inch at 50 yards however that is still useable for small game hunting on all but the smallest varmints. I can not remember ever having a FTF with them.

I did chronograph them out of rifles and I did get much higher velocities than regular high velocity fodder, but I do not know where I put the results at this point - I tested them many years ago.

I ran some over the screens from my FN SA-22 yesterday (Albuquerque City Range, 5950'>sea level, c. 60°F, c. 20% humidity), along with some other "fast" ammo and some regular stuff. Velocitors gave good velocities and just-fine-but-not-outstanding accuracy from this rifle.
CCI Velocitor 40-gr PHP: Mean 1400/Extreme Spread 40.79/Standard Deviation 22.53
Federal AutoMatch 40-gr RNL: M 1161/S 51.15/D 25.51
CCI Mini-Mag 40-gr PRN "Target": M 1207/S 30.75/D13.89
CCI Stingers 32-gr PHP: M 1518/S 9.92/D 5.00 (one hole at a short ten yards, and I wasn't killing myself to be accurate - I was trying to get rounds through the gun in the relay period without hitting my screens)
CCI Copper 21-gr truncated cone solids: M 1632/S 8.37/D 6.40 (not one hole)

To clarify my post on it being dirty;
When shooting in a sw22 sparks are still flying when the shell is being ejected.
I have not experienced that with any other rounds. It seemed to me to be slow burning or something.

From my chrono testing of Velocitors from handguns:

S&W 63 w/3” barrel avg speed is 1,042 fps
S&W 617 w/4” barrel avg speed is 1,089 fps

Cheers.

I shot Velocitors out of my Ruger 8305 surpressed today. I had it zeroed at fifty yards but had to re zero for this round.
It took about 10 shots to re zero. (I'm slow I know)

I put out 5 exploding targets taped to sticks @ 50yds.

I got all 5 the first five shots. They are accurate enough for me.

It seems that they could put a 50g round in and be gtg.

Talk about hitting power. Try Aguila 60 grain sniper SS.
They are slower but with devastating hitting power.

They will probably keyhole some if your shooting a 1:16 twist barrel over 25 yards. A 1:9 twist would be a better choice if your shooting longer distances.

They shot well in my two different brand .22 rifles with scopes at 25 yards
but they are a little more money for the accuracy that I can get with other ammo that does not cost as much.
I did not find them dirty in my pump or the semi-auto, although, I did not shoot the whole box of ammo, saving some for later.

I see The CCI Velocitor load strictly as a small game hunting round or as a last resort SD round. I would not use them for general purpose plinking or target shooting. While usually more than accurate enough for hunting and SD, I have found that they are not exactly tack drivers. For their intended purpose the CCI Velocitor is excellent and most will not fire a whole lot of rounds - hence how clean or dirty they are is basically a non issue IMO.
