I was in round 1 with a low lottery number. 1944 Colt frame and mid 1950’s civilian Colt slide. Service grade. Some purists turn their nose up at the replacement slide and reparkerization, but that’s all part of its legitimate military history. My gun hung on the hips of American GI’s for 3 decades until it was overhauled in 1976. WW2, Korea, Vietnam happened in those 30 years. I’d take this gun over any new 1911. I just wish I had gotten in on the M1 carbine lottery when it happened.
