I picked up my gun today and immediately went to range.

Although I brought cleaning supplies, I inspected internals and went straight to shooting.

I shot 300 Sergeant Major Munition ball and 10 Federal Hydra-Shok Deep ammo. First 150 rounds I had multiple failure to feed along with return to battery failures. Disassembled gun, cleaned, lubed and remaining ammo worked flawlessly.

What do I think about gun? The gun feels great in hands ergonomic wise - surprisingly though I thought the recoil was similar to the LCP Max and other micros. I wouldn’t recommend it to a first time user. I was able to hit silhouette at 15 yards but I’m not liking the extra wide space of rear sight - I shoot my Hellcat more accurately BUT I’ll get comfortable with this after more rounds. Releasing slide with stop was too difficult for me, I’ll need to investigate further. 12 magazine follower would sometimes bind while loading 3rd round. Like with all my previous micros, I tend to miss left unless I firm up my hold.

The first thing you want in a carry gun is reliability, and it doesn't seem that your gun delivers in that regard. Maybe after a few hundred rounds and some experimenting with various ammo, you could get to that level of confidence about the gun's roeliability. I had a similar experience with a Glock 42; I just had to give a good break in and decide which ammo worked best. Now it runs like a champ.

Nice report, thx! :)
With both of my BG2.0's, I didn't clean but did lube before their first range trips and they've been 100% so far w/appx 200rds each through them.
Regarding the slide tab, they wear-in w/use and now both of mine function fine as a slide release (I'm old-school ;)).

I’m carrying it now with no concerns.

Thanks 👍! Waiting for aftermarket upgrades now, lol!

Thx for posting an honest review. I’ll continue to carry my old LCP for awhile and see how things play out.

OP: which DeSantis pocket holster is that?

I bought the Nemesis model locally which was for the original bodyguard which worked while I wait for my Muddy River leather IWB holster. Desantis lists one for Bodyguard 2.0.

I'm a fan of the DeSantis 'Trickster' leather pocket holster, thin and looks like a wallet in my back pocket. :)

Thanks for the info

Ok - This is a S&W Forum, so you guys may hang me for saying this... But...

I finally got to hold one today (a Bodyguard 2.0).

Now, overall I prefer S&W to Glock - I have 4 Shield Plus models. I've previously had 4-5 regular Shields and a couple of other Shield Pluses. I love the platform.

So, you'd think I'd go for the Bodyguard 2.

Well, honestly - I like my Glock 42 better. I have an LCP and a Glock 42. To me, the Bodyguard doesn't replace either of them. The LCP is still smaller than the Bodyguard. So, it doesn't replace the LCP... And, with my +2 mag extension on the G42, the difference in round count to the 12 round mag isn't that great.

I also like the feel of the G42 more. And, I actually like the G42 sights more. I hate Glock factory sights on every Glock except a G42. But on a G42, they just work. That bright white front dot and the white rear bracket just works... Super easy to pick up, even in lower lighting settings...

I have a Shield Plus with a factory night sight similar to the front sight on the Bodyguard 2. Yes, it is an orange circle, but it is a little small. I am going to be changing to trijicon sights on that Shield Plus soon. I like their larger orange circle (around the tritium) more.

As the size difference between the G42 and Bodyguard 2.0 is close enough - I like the slightly longer sight radius on the G42.

The Bodyguard also seems TOO light to me. I don't know... When I hold it, I'm just not impressed.

Also - while this may turn out to be wrong info - on the S&W website today - it was stated that it was just discovered that the rear sight must be removed on the Bodyguard 2.0 just to remove the striker. That's a huge turn off. Someone claimed to have called S&W themselves and confirmed this information.

On the Shield models, the rear sight must be removed to take out the safety plunger/firing pin stop. But at least the rest of the internal parts can come out without doing that. If true - this fact about the Bodyguard just wouldn't work for me. But even if not true, I'm sticking with what I know works for me - the G42.

I have 1400 rounds thru my G42, and I just gave the internals a thorough cleaning. As it is a Glock, it was super simple.

It took me a year to recover from a surgery I had last year - and during that time, the G42 was the only gun I could carry. I am finally back to slightly bigger carry guns. But, the G42 has grown on me...

That's the nice thing about options, there's nothing wrong with finding what's best for you regardless of make/mfgr. :)
I really like S&W pistols but will gladly use something else that suits my needs better.

550 total through gun, had 4 battery return failures yesterday. Shooting another 200 today!

Sorry to hear that.

I watched a review where they had one failure. Seen a few other failure reports, but some claim they go away after the first 100 rounds.

Between that and the left shooting thing, that is not good.

Not concerned about battery issue, figure polished ramps will correct that. I’ll post my 15 yard results shortly.

15 yard results shooting at 4 target areas, rotating between them, one shot per area at 1 second pace. Round count 750 in three days, need to order 1000 rounds, I’m out, lol!

Forgot to mention, had to bump slide into battery 4 times.

I've read a lot of complaints about how wide the rear sight notch is. This is something that S&W can easily modify in new production if they get the message. I shoot a Sig P365/380 and it shoots way more accurately than what I see posted here. S&W needs to tighten their sight picture up.

I definitely don’t like the wide rear sight since I practice at 15 yards and my irons are blurry with my corrected vision to begin with.

I don't mind the wide rear sight. For me the BG is more about speed close up. It makes it easy to pick up the front sight.
