Favorite Holiday Bourbon

Many of my favorites have already been mentioned. Others: Redemption, Russell Reserve 10 year, Smoke Wagon,( great in coffee!) and New Riff. We collect bourbon more than we drink it. Mostly cheaper than firearms..

For whisky, it’s mostly rye for me, Overholt, Rittenhouse, Templeton, and a sleeper, Canadian Club 100% Rye, surprisingly good especially because I can’t stand the blended Canadian whiskies.
Bourbon for a special occasion is going to be Booker’s barrel strength, simply the most tasty, easiest to drink hard liquor I have come across, a surprise since it usually comes at 125 or 130 proof. It costs more than I can afford, which is a good thing. Also good that it doesn’t appear on the shelves very often. When I was drinking bourbon, it was usually Beam, in large part because it is available in the 750cc Lightweight Traveler, a flat plastic bottle that slides easily into a motorcycle saddlebag.

That’s an easy one . Although I currently have a few bottles open that I’m enjoying my Favorite one is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. If there’s anyone here who hasn’t tried it yet I would highly recommend it. You will Not be disappointed!

I'll second that.

Just cracked a bottle of Old Forester 1895 BinB. Fairly tasty...I do like Booker Noe also. Had a bottle of Whistle Pig 10 year rye a while back which was darn tasty. Tried their latest bottling and wasn't impressed.

Anyone here that has a tase for single malts I'd recommend Westland Flagship if you can find it. Made in Seattle, but it's pretty darn good. They are awful proud of their prices though.

Though technically not bourbon I'll be enjoying a few bottles of George Dickel 9 year old single barrel.

For me, George Dickel 12. Also a favorite of our well-liked and -respected Absent Comrade "Absalom." His wishes were he be toasted with Dickel 12 at his final memorial and I was pleased to comply.

Pleasant problem is what to do with the 100 or so bottles of Jack Daniel's I would pick up at the casino gift shop using my slot card! It's a test...

Never really found a bourbon that I liked better than a fine Rye. Just picked up a bottle of Whistlepig 12 year old that is about the finest thing I've ever drank. Their 6 year old is my standard sip'pin whiskey, 100% straight rye....smooth as silk. I'm not a big time drinker anymore and used to drink more beer than anything else. I've tried all the fine Scotch Wiskeys and never found one I like more than The Bowmore, I still prefer a fine Rye. One of the first great distillers in this country was George Washington, he was very well known for his fine Rye.
By the way if any of you gents that are on a military VA disability, you can now get on base and use the liquor store. Depending on your state that can be significant savings as there is no tax and this state has a hefty booze tax.

I’m a Wild Turkey 101 man. I like it on the rocks. But with a meal I’ll mix it with diet cola. Bulleit is probably my second pick. Also Knob Creek is ok.

Just trying this today for the first time.

WOW! Just WOW!

Phew! 122.2 proof! Stay away from the fireplace! I had some single barrel Old Scout last year that was 128 proof. Thought I'd just bit into a Carolina Reaper...

It’s actually quite “soft” on the palate…honey and a hint of vanilla.

Not a terribly long finish but it sure does pack a punch!
