Take Heed-

PARTICIPATING in a thread on a banned topic will receive a Reminder or a Point just as if you started the thread.

READ:
Sticky: RULES - General Posting Rules
They tell you:
Politics is a banned topic on this board.
It's a simple rule- We don't talk general politics here.

This policy is NON-negotiable, so you can save any contrary comment. ;)
If that makes this board untenable for you, we bid you Godspeed in your quest for happier haunts.

I'm assuming you folks own real guns. That would seem to imply that you have enough self control to limit your actions.

from The Rules:
The following topics are BANNED on this Board:
Abortion
Religion
Racial issues
Gay rights/homosexuality
General LEO bashing
Political Discussion and Comment

2nd Amendment issues and causes can be discussed in the 2nd Amendment forum.

2nd Amendment Issues means:
Just that- issues relating to gun rights.

It does NOT mean we'll discuss general partisan politics, the economic policies of either party, abortion, gay rights, religion, nor elections beyond sorting pro-gun candidates from anti-gun candidates.

This is explained further here:

Maybe you should install a political section on this forum along with the 2nd Amendment. I,being a wholesaler and gunsmith in the sporting goods division of my shop,I think it would be wise. Like other gun forums are doing. I know your rules and regs but, some ideas has to be put on this forum to try at least,to get people understood what our members of congress are doing to destroy our CONSTITUTION that is way over 200 years old. I and other wholesalers don't like it one bit. The storming of our rights and laws have to be on the POSITIVE,not,NEGATIVE sides.

I think a Politics Sub-Forum is a bad idea that wouldn't fit here. Other members here have said that they are / have been members of other forums that had a Politics Forum. The big problem with that is people are people.
Posters get into keyboard shouting matches over politics, then are unable to leave the argument in the politics forum. The members tend to carry their political argument into the other sub-forums.
Thanks, but no thanks.

Here is what Lee's stance is.
He told this to somebody a while back during their "exit interview":

We support the 2nd Amendment.
That is why this 2A forum is here.
It definitely IS a political issue- that goes without saying.
However, as people will, they often think that they can simply mention the 2A in a post, and then progress into ranting about the economic policies of Obama, or Obamacare, or gay rights/same sex marriage, or abortion, or whatever. While I have definite opinions and positions on all those issues, it is not within the scope of the mission of this board to discuss them.
This board is simply and narrowly focused on:
1. Discussion of all things S&W
2. Protection of the 2A and other legal issues pertaining to guns such as defense and the right to carry.
3. Promotion of and recruiting for the NRA.

That's it. Nothing more.
So, we do have guidelines for keeping discussion on those topics because people slip easily into many other political/social issues and it is simply not worth the wear and tear on the staff to allow that discussion.

How can 2nd Amendment issues be totally non-political?

Did you see this?

Like my old dad used to say, "Never discuss politics, religion or another man's wife. All three are a shortcut to a black eye." Trouble with on-line political forums is people don't have to worry about a black eye. Things can get out of hand in no time flat. Guess it depends on whether or not the administrators and moderators want to act as referee/censor. My 2 cents? We don't need it here.

I have a right to insist that a visitor to my home play by my rules. This is a privately-owned forum, and the best gun board I've found. When we are in the owners' house we are expected to play by their rules, and that's their right.

The forum means enough to me to stick around and accept how they want it run even if I don't always understand or agree with some applications of their rules. Those who are too unhappy to do that usually go elsewhere, and that's their right.

SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET THE FOOT IN THE DOOR

Politics in ANY way shape or form is imo a bad fit for here. I come to try and get away from that stuff as it is addicting, & like watching a car wreck. It is not as if there aren't tons of other sites that allow it, but not too many that do not. PLEASE DO NOT CAVE IN & even consider removing even (dare I say it) 2ND AMD issues. Our recent thread about the Nevada BLM debacle is a prime example.

We are not going to remove the 2A forum.
If you do not wish to see discussion of 2A issues, why are you in the 2A forum?
I believe it would be rather easy to avoid it.
