Biden admin drops its 'zero tolerance' policy targeting gun dealer licenses over paperwork errors | Fox News

The Biden administration has reversed a much-criticized policy that required inspectors to revoke the federal firearms sales licenses for gun shops over certain paperwork errors or anomalies as part of a "zero tolerance" approach.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) voluntarily reversed the rule following a lawsuit by Austin, Texas, gun store owner Michael Cargill, an outspoken proponent of gun rights who argued the policy impeded access to firearms and was a barrier to the right to own firearms.

"I've literally, single-handedly castrated the ATF," Cargill told Fox News Digital.

Personally, I doubt the BATFE would EVER "volunteer" to do ANYTHING.

Most likely, they feared the new incoming director of the BATFE more than a lawsuit.

I can't go further because I keep getting bans for politics.

Of course he did get a nice new job. Politicians take care of each other.
The shame of it is how many good honest dealers were shut down because of minor paperwork errors or similar issues by Agents forced to follow this overzealous directive.
I know an excellent long time local gunsmith who shut down because of it. His shop was in the basement of the old Ruger factory. He was well known throughout the region.

Mitch Schultz? I used him more than once, he was about an hour away. Helluva gunsmith.

Ladder13. Yes. Mitch. A great gunsmith. Very fair on pricing. Quality work. He was well known for working on high end shotguns and stock repairs. I bought a few nice and reasonably priced used handguns from him. He couldn’t find anyone to take over the business last I knew.
Here are a few videos he made with NSSF. First is cleaning a 1911 and the other two involve mounting and bore sighting a scope.
