Can my SD9ve handle +P ammo ? I just got it today and fired 100 rounds of Remington 115g fmj without issue. A friend suggested I get +P ammo so I thought I'd ask here. This is my first 9mm so any info is appreciated.

Have a look at the manual. They may warn you that a steady diet of +P will reduce spring life. If you shoot as much as I do, that is a problem.

Any real reason you want +P?

Congratulations on your purchase. It's a fine choice.

While the SD9ve will handle +P loads it is not recommended to feed it a steady diet as it accelerates wear (according to S&W). More importantly, I'm curious as to WHY you want +P? If it's simply because your friend recommended it, you might want to ask him why.

Some people are proponents of the increased muzzle energy produced by the increased velocity of the +P round. They feel that this produces added "stopping power" for the round. I am a believer that hits to vital areas and adequate penetration are the ultimate goal, and the increased recoil of +P is the enemy of accurate follow up shots.

My recommendation would be Federal HST 147gr 9mm (standard pressure).
If you can't find it, or the price is too high then I would look at Hornady Critical Defense or Gold Dots.
Both are excellent rounds. :)
