The Buckmark I had did great with the CCI ammo and, oddly enough, Remington Thunderbolts. Strange with the Thunderbolts.

I use Federal Automatch and/or Remington Golden Bullets. Only use the pistol for our local .22 Steel Challenge matches. Pinpoint accuracy is not an issue (usually 6 inch plates).

Ahh. I just got a few boxes of 40g cci blazer 22lr. So far, they are great and have had no FTF's.
I had been using Prime 40gr. I liked it alot- but I'd get 2 or 3 stuck cases after they had fired ( FTE'S) per 100 or so.
So far, I think me and it like the 40gr.

I did run some Winchester super X mini mags that I had for my 10/22. And found they were a bit "hot", compared to the prime bullets.

I had been using the prime because they were a gift. I never really shoot 22lr. But trying to start.

I gave away a 500 box of thunderbolt. Again. I don't shoot much 22lr. But I never ran any thunderbolts threw the buckmark.

Very interested to know what people use and accuracy. So far, the buckmark is accurate with the 40gr cci.

Try as many as you can, standard and high velocity. Often, one or two will provide much better accuracy than all the others. Of course, 100% reliable functioning is important, too.

CCI Blazer for my Buckmark for Steel Challenge matches. Other ammo does not run 100%. Buckmark slide rails on the top (not bottom) may need a few strokes with a Hard Arkansas stone; do not use power tools. Best lube has been Miltec-1, which is a light impregnating lubricant.

Any failure to fire is indicative of sorry ammo unless your gun has been tampered with. Spend a little more and get ammo that always fires. It will likely be more accurate as well.

Mine feeds reliably with anything that has a decent primer… I stopped buying that cheap Remington standard velocity stuff along time ago because it misfired in all my rim fires frequently. My buck Mark shoots CCI mini mags and stingers really good and I've had good luck with Winchester white box and federal American too… I prefer the stingers when I'm shooting gophers. Mine is the 5.5 inch slab sided version With black rubber grips from 1995 when I bought it new and it's been an excellent rimfire pistol for me.

I bought a 5.5 field around 2006. It's probably the pistol that I most enjoy shooting. It eats everything that I've fed through it, doesn't matter what brand, ammo type, weight or velocity, and its pretty darn acceptably accurate with them all.

Sure, I've had a few misfires every now and again but that's due to the ammo, not a malfunction of the pistol. The only issues I've ever really had is shooting sub sonic ammo, mainly SK Jagd 40 gr RN. Sometimes they just didn't have enough 'umf' to cycle the action enough to chamber the next round.

But mostly I use CCI SV or HV (HP for varmints). Both are accurate enough for small game or target. CCI rimfire SV and HV ammo always seems to perform well in pistols and rifles.

My Buckmark 5.5 Field is, still bone stock and came with a great factory trigger that I have never seen a reason to change. I've run a few different red dots on it over the years but currently use a Bushnell RSX-250 Reflex. I changed the grip panels, too, and that's it.

I have never shot anything but CCI Mini Mags in mine. They work great.

Mine from long ago eats everything.......But I personally don't like Remington .22 ammo anymore......When I was a kid thorough being a teenager. Their a.22 ammo was almost perfect.......Now it is ****.

I agree. The only way to know what shoot best in your gun is to try as many different types as you can find. That's part of the fun.

Our Buckmark will cycle on anything as long as it is cleaned and oiled every 2-3 hundred rounds. Cheap stuff to high quality and in between. Only problem I’ve had is failure to fire with bricks I bought from a neighbor - her husband stored them in a safe in an unconditioned garage for decades. Maybe 10% FTF but that wasn’t the Browning’s fault at all.

I have 3 ammo cans of a huge variety of 22.
If youre lucky it will shoot a variety of cheaper stuff well.
If not, keep a log of the ammo it likes.
Nothing I have likes thunderbolts.

Different lots make a difference, true, but the differences are usually less significant with better quality ammos. Spend a little more to get more.

Different gun, same problems. I have a 317 that had problems loading, firing and electing. Being a revolver this is pretty freaking significant. Bottom line I traced it down to cheap bulk ammo. In this case Browning ammunition. I buy the on sale bulk for close up pistol practice. Most of the brands seem to work acceptably, not the Browning.

My standard load is CCI SV which I buy by the case. Mostly for rifle shooting because it groups very well in all my rifles. Yes, each rifle has its tested favorite but the CCI is a close second.

I always have the 317 on range days with the rifles and have been feeding it a steady diet of the CCI SV now without cleaning it as a test. Lost count at 300 plus so it works for me.

BTW, buying by the case brings the price down to about $3.50 a box. Totally worth it for dependable function.

I've found it's normally don't a big difference unless you're talking benchrest competition level accuracy.

I second the CCI SV. I've bought it by the case for years. Works great and is accurate in most rifles and handguns, but with it you lose whining rights regarding ammo problems.

Temperature, rain, snow, wind, temperature of the bullets, weather in general affect bullet performance. Just like long range shooting, everything can affect performance.

These are all known facts:
The .22 s, l, lr, Mag, are all fickle when it comes to how well your firearm will perform. Types of ammo make the biggest difference.
Even different ammo from the same manufacturer can affect how well your gun shoots.

Ammo is the only variable in which we have much choice. My old Mossburgs seem to like anything in standard velocity, whereas my Ruger's, have favourites preferring CCI HV regardless of the lot number. It doesn't really matter though because they are far more accurate than me.

I agree that I shoot mine bone stock as well. The trigger is light already. At least with the 600 rounds mine has in it.
It's a new gun I just bought this year. I had thought of modifying it. Haegis flip , or tandemkross trigger . But it really doesn't need anything.
I even wanted to put one of those charging rings, but after you rack it the first time- do you really need it? Not really. Especially if the ammo fires and always locks open afterwards.

I have to learn how to comfortably shoot mine without optics. My RO invited me to a rimfire competition. And am going to shoot it with stock sights only.

I'm thinking , I may just stick to cci and buy in bulk when available. Since I can't reload 22, I have to stick to factory ammo.

Been years since I've shot alot of 22. I used to have a cadet kit that I had fired alot of rounds through. But I sold it more than a decade ago.
