I saw this on the news this AM a company has a soon to be released - if they can get past the PC police- .380 pistol which has a folding handle which makes it resemble a cell phone and is about the same size. I think the company is called "Ideal Conceal".
If they made it in a better caliber I would want one.

Article about this on FOX NEWS website this morning. Schumer is raising h**l about it, trying to get ATFE to investigate it. Firearm is not even made yet.

Approved or not, doesn't matter to me. I don't want or need a handgun with a folding grip. There are plenty of handguns small enough for deep concealment without going to that extent.

It's just a company trying to use a gimmick to create a market for something.

What if your real cell phone rings, but you pick up the gun to answer? Could get messy. :D

I saw it too on the FOX news a few minutes ago and have mixed feelings about the product. As a retired LEO I can see where it could be effectively used against law enforcement, or where LE could react when someone points something like this at them. Glad to be retired.

Schumer banning something based on cosmetics? Never!

Are you sure it's not being made yet? I've being seeing it on
the news for at least a week. I haven't paid that much
attention to the coverage but I thought one young perp had
already been shot by the police when using one.

Agree. Fiddling with it under stress, just to get the grip deployed, doesn't seem like a smart approach in an emergency situation. But there'll probably be people who will want it just because Schumer doesn't like it.

Stupidest thing I've ever seen. The logic for it as described by the maker is that it allows for carry without having to disturb people who are concerned when they see a gun. The example I heard is that little Johnny sees a poorly concealed gun and says to his mom - look mom, that man has a gun. That won't happen with this cell phone looking gun. Seriously?

First, concealed should be concealed. Second, how crazy has this world become when the sight of a gun on a person is some big deal. Third, tell little Johnny about the facts of life - most people with guns as law abiding citizens and use the situation as a learning experience.

Lastly - the last thing I want is for law enforcement to have to wonder if a phone is a gun or to be fooled by some a-hole using this thing and doing harm to a LEO.

Not really a good idea. Some idiot will shoot them self trying to text while driving. The lawyers would love that.

My first thought was just how many times I could sucker an irritating person into answering my cell phone for me. "Just flip it open, then hit the 'push to talk' switch, Bud."

My second thought was me sitting across the room from some rookie cop who just read an intel alert about the cell phone pistols, sees me opening up my antique flip phone, and ruins my whole day.

I think some ideas are better than others.
