If you carry concealed a 3" revolver on a regular basis, I'm interested in what works for you. Please share your setups (guns and holsters) that work best for you.

Tom, I don't carry it regularly but I have carried my 3" 686+ in a leather Triple K 314, or a JM Custom Kydex AIWB holster. Despite the size and weight it's surprisingly comfortable and conceals reasonably well.

Of course, depending on size and build, OMMV.

I don't anymore, but I used to. I had a 3" 65, carried IWB in either a Milt Sparks Summer Special II or in a VMII-style holster by another maker (no longer in business, AFAIK), carried around 3:30-4:00, on a 1.5" Beltman belt. The VMII-style holster was a little more comfortable because it spread the weight and pressure over a larger area, and I could wear it for 12+ hours/day.

For me, I find holsters that carry the gun with the cylinder about even with the belt offers the best comfort and stability, even though the thickest part of the gun is under the belt.

I also found that the 3" 65 carried IWB concealed better than the Glock 23 I had carried either OWB or IWB.

A little smaller than the above-mentioned K-frames, but I tote a 3" 60-15 a good bit, in a cheap Bianchi IWB holster when concealed. I use those holsters for almost all of my IWB carry, as they are almost as thin as the gun itself.

If I have a cover shirt on, it goes in a Kydex belt holster that serves all of my J-frames.

Since discovering the perfection of the 3 inch Ks about two years ago have been carrying one a lot. Two primary concealed carry holsters are a Milt Sparks Summer Special for IWB and an El Paso Tortilla for OWB.

This about sums up my experiences too. Barrel length is really not that important. A 3" K-Frame IWB carries just as well as the 2" version. With the VMII you can even tuck your shirt in.

Also it depends what frame size you have with the 3" barrel. I can carry a J-Frame of that length in a big pocket, an L frame I'd probably go with OWB only.

I agree, and maybe even better, IWB. The additional barel length seems to "anchor" the revolver better.

At least with my VMII for a K-frame snubby, the edge of the holster comes down about 1" past the muzzle, which I think gives it a similar anchoring effect. This also means the holsters are just about the same length whether the barrel is 2" or 3", so neither is easier to carry than the other.

Otherwise yes I agree with most holsters the 3" will be better "anchored".

I also carry a model 64 with 3 inch barrel in a strong side pancake. Works well for me. I see some posters use an IWB and like them. I have never tried an IWB for a K frame so can't comment on them. Maybe I will try one someday.

sp101 3" or mod 36 3" Rside IWB in a desantis nemesis. easy draw. easy to stick in waistband and take out. mod 442 in L pocket.

I sometimes carry a 3" 686+. My holster of choice is a Lobo Leather IWB. I also have my grip setup with magnas and Tyler-T to help slim down the profile.

I carried a 3" Model 60-15 for a short while in a Simply Rugged Pancake Holster. I still do in the cooler months sometimes. But, I've carried 4.25" semi autos inside the waistband before without a problem. I find it isn't the length of the barrel that bothers me.

Carry a 3" GP100 often....in a Simply Rugged IWB with clips not the loops.

Hides well and is comfortable

I carry a S&W Governor occasionally. Not technically a 3” but size wise, I’d say it’s bigger than many.

LOL.......3" 65 since about 1986 and a 3" 66 since 1989........first a Bianchi Pistol pocket ... then and still a 3" K-frame with Spegel Boot Grips
and a...........Milt Sparks summer special..........still do from time to time...... but generally a S&W 3913.

Still prefer a revolver for woods carry...................
