Carrying at the gym

How often do we turn on the news and hear "Things like that never happen here, it's such a nice neighborhood."?

If I’m not carrying it is illegal to carry there. Then it depends, I may just rely on the always carry never tell.

@the OP, if you don't want to keep it in your vehicle locked or your gym prohibits firearms on premise and/or you don't want to keep it in your locker...I think you answered the question.

I do not have any suggestions for carrying on your person at the gym. I would suggest re-evaluating locking it in a vehicle or buying your own equipment for home.

I'm in the leave it in the car camp. That's also why I have some of what I call "truck guns" (I have a truck). Cheaper or worn guns that have minimal monetary value but have proven reliable. Example could include: A Taurus bought cheap, a RIA, an old no finish revolver, etc. Even the Shield if they continue to sell in the $200 range often enough. My old early version 669 fits the bill. It's seen so much use over the years it's definitely a beater and I expect has little value, but it's reliable. So if going somewhere I need to leave the gun in the car, I just bring one of my "truck guns".

Leave it in the car. Gym lockers are more insecure than your average locked car in a gym parking lot.

I do not know what you do in a gym, but most folk seem to drift from machine to machine and waste time. Probably can pack an N-frame OWB under a sweat shirt that sees no actual sweat.

For my own part, I am a power/oly weight lifter from way back. Packing heat is just not practical when performing those lifts. Most I could manage would be a folding knife with clip inside a front pocket. Even a P-32 would be impractical.

OTOH, packing while running or cycling is a problem I have solved.

Carry Anywhere?

I agree with the OP about not leaving the gun in
the car. Some gyms don't really have good lighting
outside, either.
If you can't carry the full-size, an NAA Mini or a really small
auto can be carried using a bellyband rig. I mean one that
doesn't have an external holster, but kind of a pocket with
a sweatprotector. You can adjust where you want it on
your torso, and if snug-fitting, the gun will Not come out.

Whenever my wife drags me to the gym, I carry it in a small gym bag that has my clothes in it. I keep the bag beside whatever equipment I'm on, always in sight.

THIS THIS THIS. I always have my gym bag in sight of me where ever i am at inside.

I realize you said you are not going to buy a pocket gun but I solved that problem w/my LCP in the L/F pocket of my gym pants.

Joined a gym about 2 weeks ago and I've been going everyday. I can't see anyway to safely carry my M&P 9c while using weight machines, fast walking on treadmill, or jumping/rolling around in group classes. Not gonna buy a pocket gun anytime soon. Don't want to leave it in the car or in a locker, so I leave it at home. I don't like being out unarmed, but I like being in the gym. What do y'all gym rats do?

Lock it up in you car, put it in a fanny pack and keep it on you, or leave it at home. Don't over-think this.

GUN YOGA?

Quick answer, DON'T. Hard to impossible to conceal it comfortably in most active type activities. I did carry a Seecamp in a neck bag I keep my mp-3 player in but I was always aware of it, it flopped around un-naturally, & worried about the string/strap breaking. It just didn't "work out" for me.

I have never carried in a gym, except an M-16 while I was in Iraq.

Now that I'm retired, if I decide to go to one I will leave it in the car.

I was watching a shooting channel just yesterday. Hornady has a car safe I might just invest in.
