I still can't find a comfortable way to carry a concealed gun while in my wheel chair. Shoulder holster works if I have a jacket on but that ain't good all the time. I wear sweat pants so don't have a belt to attach a cross draw holster too. Does a fanny pack sound like a good idea for a revolver?. I have a .45acp derringer I stuff in my pocket but it takes a lot to dig it back out when I want it. And the sights are worthless.

Need to find a way to make these play well with each other:

Daniel,

I've lost a leg and do not usually wear my prosthetic leg while in the office, so I spend a lot of time in a wheel chair myself. I did the shoulder holster thing for a while, but as you say, it requires a covering garment.

I ended up modifying a standard gun fanny pack with a Velcro closure such that it is attached to one arm rest on the side of my chair, and keep a small revolver in it. I simply removed the belt strap completely and hung it with sturdy zip ties. It is on my left armrest with the Velcro opening facing forward for a cross-draw. It stays out of the way, is quick enough, and doesn't interfere with my use of the armrests. I hope that helps.

Is there any way that you could affix couple of holsters beneath the chair so that they would be out of sight yet still easily accessible to you?

Because if so, that would probably be the best option. It offsets the load from you to the chair and as long as they aren't immediately visible from anyone at a normal standing height, you're golden.

Try to see if you can fit at least one of them up under the seat with a good Serpa holster or something else like that which will hold your Taurus/Colt securely in place. Use velcro or maybe have the holsters screwed, bolted, or even glued to the area beneath the seat so that they will hold the revolvers with the grips facing outwards in a fashion in which you could easily reach under and grab one from either side.

Failing that, I would recommend investing in a cheap .380 Pocket Pistol like the Ruger LCP, which would obviously be much easier to carry concealed than your Taurus or Colt Revolver, yet offer similar performance to standard pressure .38 Special ammo, and would hold more rounds than either your Revolvers or Derringer.

Go to Amazon and type in wheelchair armrest pouch. They have a few different ones. I guess I would look at one that has a small back pouch for the revolver and added pouches in front you can put misc things into to make it look like just a hanging pouch and not a holster pouch.

If a cover garment is the only problem, get a stylish vest. I have several in different colors and styles and wear them almost 100% of the time when my wife and I go out. Mine are known as "travel vests" as they have numerous extra pockets (but the pockets are mostly hidden so it's doesn't look like a tactical vest). I wear them going grocery shopping, going out to eat, a wedding, etc.

Note I said "stylish". Not a hunting or outdoor type vest.

I live in Vegas where 8 months out of the year we have 80-110 degree weather, and my lightweight styles are no problem in the heat and nobody gawks at me (not that I care).

You also have the benefit of a lot of extra pockets.

As a prior LE when Ohio first started CCW, a fanny pack screamed gun. However now you see fewer and fewer of them in use EXCEPT for those folks in wheel chairs who cannot sit on wallets all day or easily access items in their pockets. Also there are numerous medical devices in use today that require on the body carry. Fix a short piece of medical tubing to come out of the pack and insert it into your waistband. Believe me, NO ONE will give you a second look or ask any questions for fear of offending. Use that camouflage to your advantage. I believe a properly designed firearm fanny pack would make perfect sense in your case. It could readily rest directly in your lap and still provide concealment and security to your firearm.

I have a disability... not in a WC yet... but making adaptations. I think I'd look for pouch(s) to hang under the arm rest... with an outside pocket for msc stuff... with an inside pocket to place a holster butt forward, crossdraw. Maybe your stong side could be straight draw. The holster could hang down outside so the grip is below leg height. The outside pocket would want a pleat so it's a little bulky to hide that there is an inside.

I associated your chair to my truck seat. I'm in and out of it 2500HD sitting on 6" lift and 35s. No much for messing with anything so it has to be light comfortable. If it's ccumbersome I won't use it. I'll throw on gear an go to the AK.

What I found was of all things. A yep go ahead and flame it y'all. A nylon iwb holster made by Elite got mine at Scottsdale gun club years ago. Comfortable as all git out sitting since I don't do the 4oclock I keep mine at appendix. I don't wear a belt either. Hate them.

Belt clip slides down on my jeans to the right of the first belt loop so it sits over my front pocket. Clip grabs waistband and the rivet of the pocket. The cut and clip location on this one works well for my use. Really like the nylon for appendix it doesn't dig into my hip like leather does. Along much cooler in AZ also doesn't stick to my skin.

Hope that helps

Daniel,
Another option to consider is a holster t-shirt. It's worn as a t-shirt but has underarm pockets on both sides for concealed carry of a small to medium handgun. Made from poly/spandex, it fits tight to prevent your firearm from shifting and is reinforced across the shoulders to prevent sagging. Your regular wear button up shirt is your cover garment. Leave one button open on your shirt and works the same as a shoulder holster.

Several makers including 5.11. Google "holster t-shirt"

Travelon makes nice anti-theft fanny packs. Go to Google and put in anti- theft fanny packs and you get a good selection.
I would not put a gun anywhere but on my person. I like complete control of my weapons. Also if you leave your chair the gun is always with you.
I have a Bond Arms roughneck derringer in 45 acp. It’s a backup for my primary revolver, but in cold months it rides in a coat pocket in a pocket holster. If I will be taking my coat off,it goes to my pants pocket. It would work well in case someone wants to get into the chair with you. Derringers are made for REAL up close and personal.
That 45 acp was only $240. I run 185gr Speer Gold Dots. JMO

Be SAFE and Shoot often!

With the principle of "dress around the gun", two things that haven't been mentioned would be a small of the back or (if this isn't a ridiculous idea) an ankle holster. Both would require some type of clothing coverage.
