Hey all.

I’d like to get some ideas and suggestions on what your most comfortable grips are for carry and practice time for your 3-inch K-frame with a round butt.

Thank You for your help and advice.

Uncle Mike's Grips work very well, if you can get them. If you prefer wood instead of rubber, there are S&W Combat Grips, Hogues or Craig Spegel Boot Grips, Ahrends or S&W Target (?) Grips, or the regular old original service stocks...

As already stated, the Pachmayr Compac Pro grips are very comfortable. Magna grips with a grip adapter is also comfortable for small hands and conceals well.

Probably the most comfortable (for me) are factory round butt target (banana) grips. They are scarce, hard to find and getting expensive.

My favorite are these Craig Spegel extended boot grips.

As others have noted the Pachmayer Compact grips are hard to beat for concealed carry and comfort in shooting.

I prefer them over the Hogue grips or the full size Pachmayer grips. I also like the wood combat grip on my Model 13. It won’t grab a shirt like a rubber grip can, but it also isn’t absorbing any recoil if you are shooting full power .357 Mag loads.

Regardless of material comfort in shooting involves having a grip that fills in much of the area behind the trigger guard to keep it from rapping your finger under recoil.

Having carried a 3" k-frame since 1986 my ranking........ In my experience................ I prefer wood grips for concealed carry.

1. Spegal Boot Grips; best for concealed carry
2. Factory Target/Banana grips cut down to Boot grip length
3 Uncle Mikes Boot grips; licensed copy of Spegel Grips
3 Pachmayer Professional Compacts...open backstrap
5. Pachmayer Compacts best for open/woods carry and long range sessions

Love those Birdeyes maple grips on the "Frenchy"(?) with fixed sights.

That gun should have been cataloged ...... would have sold a million!!!!!

I have a set of his extended boot grips in Birdseye on a blue 4" 586-4 factory round butt

I’ve tried all of the above The Culina Combats are great. They are a little larger than the Spegels, less money and easier to obtain. I like the Spegel extended boot grips but I have friends that prefer the non-extended version for concealed carry. Pachmayer Compac grips shoot well, and are an inexpensive place to start. Smooth stag grips from bigmtnman are always nice. Enjoy.

I prefer the original magna stocks with a Tyler T, or other grip adapter that functions as the Tyler T.

For me, this arrangement provides the best CARRY grips that also improve my shooting.

Of course, for a gun I wouldn’t carry ( eg a very long barrel on an N frame) I prefer Pachmyers.

Have to recommend the Rogers/Safariland grips for the K frame, also made them for the J frame S&Ws.
