Paddle holsters

On some paddles there are teeth on the lower inside surface that make a channel that is belt width. Don’t know if that means you can’t or shouldn’t hook it to the inside of the pant waistband.

As a Lefty, I sometimes wear a Right Hand Holster in my Left Jeans Pocket.
Not something I’m recommending!
Paddle - over the pants. Often not wearing a belt!
I only have one Paddle.

When I use a paddle holster, the paddle is between shirt and pants, the holster itself is outside of the belt.

That’s exactly where it goes. Your belt pushed waist band into tract above those little teeth. It’s gripping belt. Pants happen to be in between

The problem with between the pants/belt is that my preferred position is right where there is a belt loop on the pants. The paddle would have to be split to work.

I prefer in the pants with the belt clip mounted to the holster. If the paddle has the belt clips it must go outside the pants.

The correct answer is, whatever works for you, works for you. There is no rule that says you MUST wear it this way or that. Depends what I'm doing, and why I've chosen that holster; sometimes I tuck it into my pants, and sometimes it is between the belt and the pants.

Try it both ways. See which you prefer.

The belt loop won’t matter the paddle will slip over it. In both of these photos the holster is riding over the belt loop.
The “U” shaped by the back of the holster and the front of the paddle slips down over your pants waistband and belt.
Your shirt will be touching the back side of the paddle.
Hope this is clear.

Paddle holsters are intended to be worn with the paddle inside the pants waistband. If they were to be between the pants and the belt they wouldn't be any different from a conventional OWB holster except for being able to be removed without un-threading the belt.

I tried a paddle holster once for a few days over 40 years ago. I was so dis-satisfied with how it performed I have never used one again but preferred a normal OWB holster for plain clothes and off duty.

Paddle holsters were not comfortable for me and serve little to no advantage. I mean...... how any times do we put on and take off a holster during the course of a normal day? It takes seconds to feed your belt through a standard holster's loops and once on, it is a superior product IMO.

There are lots of gizmo's and gadgets but to me the basic holster designs make the most sense and to me K.I.S.S. is the way to go.

Yes.

Either way works, sometimes one way works a bit better depending on the specific holster, pants, person, and purpose.

I've got 3 one for my 4 S&W J frames and two for my 3 Colt D frames. The paddle holster has its purpose but the main convenience for me is the ease of removing the paddle holster when the day is done.I use a paddle occasionaly now in retirement and did use one at times when I carried my DS on the job in dicks ,again it has its place, in fact I'm using an Uncle mikes paddle today while toting my 36 2in.
