I ordered my Pocket Concealment Systems (PCS) Pocket Concealment Systems, Inc.: Main Catalogue Page holster on Wednesday from Craig at Lightning Arms Lightning Arms Sports who is super guy to buy from and a great supporter of the 2nd Amendment right as well.I received my holster today via USPS Priority; this is the second holster I have bought from Craig and his service is unrivaled.

On to the holster, the fit and finish is beyond the price paid; I also paid a $14 premium over the PCS website's listed price but well worth the immediate delivery satisfaction. I ordered mine for my weak hand pocket to hold a back-up pistol. Craig ensured that I not received my choice for this but went through specifics down to the EXACT barrel length of my M49 to ensure that it fit properly.

The holster provides an easy draw from the pocket (practiced with an empty gun) and also, to my surprise, re-holsters nicely. Regarding pocket carry, I am also surprised just how comfortable it is and while a trained eye could see that something is in my pocket it is not any different looking than say a PDA phone case. The smooth side does an excellent job of covering the typical holster/gun shape. The French hook does just what is designed to do and that is to keep the holster in the pocket. Overall, my initial impressions are positive and I will post more as my experience build with this particular model. I will also get a pic added eventually for comparison purposes.

(Updated 8/18) I have been carrying the holster in my weak hand pocket for about a month now. I have done two range sessions with two different pistols for ease of draw and re-holster aspects. For the record, this is the only pocket holster I have used and thus have no direct basis of comparison to other brands. The two revolvers tested are a M49 bodyguard (all steel) and a 642 airweight. Both revolvers have rubber grips and I noticed no problems with getting the weapon out of the pocket nor have I noticed that they adhere to my pocket when the pistol is holstered. When I first practiced unholstering the weapon, it surprised me that each time the holster didn't move at all. The weapon comes up quickly and easily. The revolver does "find" the mouth of the holster when reholstering; however, I still use a straight finger as an index.

The airweight carries about as well as can be expected in dress pants, and in shorts with slant or cargo pockets. When I bend my leg sharply the outline of the holster is apparent, at least to me, but looks like a fat wallet or something similar; I am sure that an experienced and astute observer would figure out that what it is but no issues in a variety of settings. It is comfortable sitting or walking, even for longer distances. So far I am "hooked" on the PCS J French Hook model. The only issue noticed thus far is that at times the holster does tend to turn or roll slightly in larger pockets thus a more rectangular holster bottom may be more useful to those who's pants have large cargo pockets.

Thanks, dog.

Which other holster did you buy from Lightening Arms?

I bought one of the Milt Sparks Versa Max II holsters for a 1911 Commander. Craig gets these in on occasion but they FLYYY out in a hurry.

I have a PCS Black Bird. He only bones the inside of the holster and leaves the outside flat. His pictures usually only show the inside.

Very happy with mine!

My first thought was they look too good to hide in a pocket. Seem competitively priced with other quality manufacturers. We all have our preferred holster makers, this could be added to the list for some.

As a follow-up to my original post, the side facing out towards the front (out away from the wearer) is smoother to hide the outline better although it is not completely flat. The maker has another design that offers a completely flat front called the, "No-see-um". Used it for the day and unless I am bending my knee back as in a thigh stretch the holster does a great job in its intended purpose.

I have one and its a great holster, depending on what I am wearing its the PDS FC or a Sparks pocket hoslter....it has a flatter bottom for my loose shorts/cargo pants

I don't have any of those concerns. Just buckle up my Carhart carpenter pants, leatherman in left ruler pocket, switch blade in the right ruler pocket and 642 in each main pocket. Does not show and always there.

The REDOUBT model looks good. I carry a PPK/S in my front pants pocket now but have zero experience with a pocket holster. What would be the advantage of the pocket holster over just the gun in my pocket?

I am sure that many simply carry in a pocket with no holster and no negative incidents; however, for a few reasons, I do not use that carry style.

Some reasons are, the trigger is exposed when drawing the pistol from the pocket and in a stressful moment this could lead to a bad discharge, the holster keeps the weapon free of lint and garbage in your pocket, for revolver carry the holster breaks up the outline and prevent a "print" of the weapon, and the gun does "roll" or move around in your pocket (no one wants the muzzle pointed at their bits now do they?). The proper holster also ensures a consistent draw every time with no lost time fumbling for the grip or hitting the mag release on a semi-auto pistol.
