Default Beeman P17!

NOTE: I am placing this thread here even though this gun technically isn’t a firearm due to past recommendations from the board moderators.

Hey gang!

Today I went to the store and when I came back, there was an Amazon package on my doorstep. My Beeman P17 .177 (4.5mm) air pistol had arrived!!

These guns have a cult following for being inexpensive (around $35) yet shooting with extreme accuracy. They are based on the German made Weinrauch HW40 pistol which looks almost identical yet costs about $250. Supposedly, this Beeman (which is made in China and is a licensed copy) has identical accuracy! The build quality is somewhat less and there are a couple issues that can crop up with the air seals, but supposedly very cheap and easy to fix. Many consider this the finest value in air pistols on the market!

Can’t wait to shoot it! I bought this for indoor shooting on days when I can’t get to the range to shoot. I’ll post a range report soon! Take care guys!

-Jay

Cool! Air guns are loads of fun. I don’t have the Beaman but I recently bought this.

I bought one a couple years ago. Put it away and forgot about it. I’ll have to dig it out and check it out.
Have you shot yours? How is it?

Just shot it this morning. It’s really good!

This was from across the room, maybe 8 yards. The sight adjust is a bit fiddly but I got it down. Trigger is excellent, a little creep, but breaks very light and clean. I’ve read of guys doing trigger jobs on these and getting match-trigger results. The grip is perfect for my hands and cocking effort isn’t bad. Supposedly these can hold 1/2” groups or better at 10m easily. I have some work to do on my marksmanship!

Very fun, can be shot indoors no problem, and CHEAP to shoot. This should make a great lazy or rainy day supplement to my range time. For $30, this was money well spent!!

Nice indoor range alternative. I have a Beeman P3 with a red dot scope that I bought on a whim at a local auction. Terrific for indoor shooting and it is surprisingly accurate.

It has a very Walther P99-like grip. Bet that porting really keep muzzle jump to a minimum.

I had a Wehrauch HW40 many years ago and it was accurate but had an issue with the rear sight getting loose. The Chinese version is definitely a bargain and I found all Chinese airguns that I handled a little crude but working well enough and I still have a Chinese AK trainer.

Airguns are fun and great training tools.

I'm normally not a fan of the Chinese airguns, but for the price you really can't complain. They make great affordable plinkers.
