How long is your pocketknife?

I mostly carry the knife I designed for the Florida Highway Patrol back in 2005. Beretta made it for us. Only the FHP Academy or the FHP Store could order them from Beretta.

I worked with Beretta since they were the provider of the Patrol's current and previous issue handguns.

This knife is of the liner lock design and has laser etched Florida Highway Patrol Patch plus a removable pocket clip

The knife blade is of the Tanto shape but half serrated to aid in rapidly cutting seat belts

Black was chosen as the finish of the knife and blade

There are Teflon washers placed between the blade and the bolsters. The pivot point of the knife does not need oil.

The blade is 3 7/8" long and the knife has an overall open length of 8 3/4"

As a result of this collaboration, Beretta created the Law Enforcement Knife program with our Florida Highway Patrol knife as the cover photo

The one pictured above is obviously new. The one I carry shows considerable finish wear from being carried almost 15 years now

They did not go over as big with the troopers as I had hoped. You know how it is, buy that point in your career most folks already had knives that they liked.

Beretta discontinued the program several years back and these are no longer produced.

Now those are cool knives... if I ever found one I would grab it up.

I have 7 SAKs to choose from. I usually carry a Victorianox Spartan or Tinker for a pocket knife, and a combination serrated-edged Gerber, or other inexpensive folder for cutting heavier material when I'm working in the barn or outdoors. I think the longest blade is about three inches.

Hi Texas and forum members, as promissed here are the pics of the leather sheath along the non lockable folder similar to the ones used by many in the back country and small towns in Brazil, mainly in the State of Minas Gerais, and the Chinese made Kershaw Wildcat Ridge lockback folder.Albeit Chinese made it´s sturdy and very well constructed.

That pouch looks very like one that came with my Case Copperlock.

I saw a CRKT M16-10 at Lowes for $30 and bought it. Very well-made but keeps getting lost! Also, I wanted a little bit larger knife,. I also like the tanto tip (no real reason) and the serrations (I learned while in the jungles of Central America that is was for cutting rope and webbing), so I got the m16-14DSFG. It's a little too big for EDC great while working in the yard, etc.

I carry a Cold Steel Recon 1. It's 4.5 inches long and is the fastest blade I have.

About 8" open. I've been carrying this one since about 1980 or so, when some guy was told to "Get out of town", by the friendly Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and he sold me a ton of stuff, with the knife tossed into the pile for my last $2. I got a set of steak knives I still use, a brand new Craftsman torque wrench, a spare tire and wheel for a full sized Ford, and a couple of other things for like $52. This knife never stabbed anyone, but I did knock some moron's front teeth out with it.

My dad sold knives at his store, so I had a bunch of pocket knives from about the age of six. Of course, we all carried them at school back then. Even most of the girls. I'm glad I'm not in school today.

I daily carry a Kershaw RJ Tactical 3.0. Her name is Morticia and she's got a 3" blade. When deployed, she's around 6" total. And yes, I use her at least once a day, to cut on something.

Morticia? We are amused :D
That bit of wit and the fine pic got you my Like.

I carry two pocket knives with me at all times. My Cold Steel Shinobu (Medium size 2 10/16 inch blade) has been with me since 1992 (why do I still have the original sales receipt?) and is very well worn. The other and much newer blade is a Smith & Wesson "ExtremeOps" (the specific model is no longer listed on the web site) with about a three and a half inch blade.

Schrade stockman 3 7/8". I like a small knife, but i can hear this one hit the ground when i drop it, mostly getting my keys out. I had a local knife maker put ivory scales on it.

Don't carry your keys in your knife pocket. Keys and coins scratch knives!

I have carried an AG Russell featherlite K-93C drop point for 25 years. Pin came loose; I called them and mailed it back to them a couple of years ago. They sent me a new one - no charge.

I've carried everything from sub two inch blades to folders with nearly five inch blades,I rarely observe knife laws, but I find that I like knives in the what I call "full sized" category which is between a 3.5 to around 4.1 inch blade.

And since I've found I can carry auto knives I've been using those one I favor the Boker AK has a 3.3 blade which is a medium buuuuut I found a store exclusive version with a 3.8 inch blade so now I'm using that.

carried knife length

I have a comprehensive list of lengths...I just make sure that it's sharp. It's a tool...for cutting things.... other than meat. I do that in the kitchen. If I must go to a place at which I may be threatened, I'll bring along Smith and his friend Wesson.

I've been carrying my Kershaw for over 20yrs, blade is 2 3/4" closed it is 3 1/2" but right now I'm looking for a new carry knife one with a clip to hang in my pocket and spring assist opening and good quality my Kershaw was made in Japan and is a great knife I'm just looking to change longer blade as good or better quality

I carry a ZT0350 3.25" blade . I do wish I could conceal a straight blade in NC but it most be a folder when CC

I'm very fortunate in that Texas passed a law a few years ago eliminating blade length limits.

I own both Spyderco Delica and Endura knives. I'd hate to cut either down. I can now wear my longer sheath knives while hunting or camping, hiking, etc. I have a Fallkniven NL-2 with about an eight-inch blade and Buck Model 120's with blades a bit over seven inches.

A father in Big Bend Natl Park had to defend his six-year-old son from a cougar with a Delica. The blade was too short for a lethal wound, but the injuries it inflicted drove the cougar away. The kid needed considerable stitches, but survived.

Thanks for posting the blade limit to carry in a Post Office. I'd been looking for that. Postal workers I asked didn't know. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, as one also didn't know the difference between Austria and Australia when I mailed a package to a friend in Austria...

The US Code that concerns weapons is supposed to be posted as you enter a Federal building and the blade limit is 2 1/2". However, some Federal buildings, like my local Social Security office, have it posted that NO knives are allowed. So it best to disarm before entering, especially if it is a long walk back to the parking lot.
