Glock 26 9MM Opinions?
Hope all is well wherever this message may find you and yours. There seems to be a strong brand loyalty and preference to this variant; I would like to hear any feedback or thoughts you are willing to share.
Yes, I understand this is a S&W forum...
There is nothing here, other than what you bring (to channel Star Wars).
I would be interested in any feedback or thoughts on this firearm. This is my second post in almost 10 years, relative to Glock, so it is not an endorsement or trying to stir the waters...it is just a simple questions.
In your opinion, based on first-hand knowledge, what has been your experience?
Thank you in advance and hope all is well.

Full disclosure, my experience is with the Glock 27 in .40S&W however the 26 and 27 are identical besides caliber.
That said, I loved mine, it shot great, it was a perfect gun to carry if I was just around my desk or home. Easy to conceal.
Reason I liked it was I could toss a Glock 23 mag in it with a grip extension and have a full size grip if needed.
If you plan to get a G19 in the future, a G26 would be a great start.
Im NOT by any stretch a Glock fan....Not a fan of any polymer guns, not even the M&Ps so much, but both Glock and Smith make good polymer guns, at a decent price.

I really like mine! I am far from a Glock fanboy, but I’ve owned the 19, 21, 23, 26, 27, 29 and 30 - I still have the 26 and 29. I like the 26’s size balanced with the selection of magazines with capacities from 10-33 rounds, which also fit in my 9mm AR pistol.
Mine is a Blue Label 26 that came with the Ameriglo Bold slights.

A fantastic Cary gun IMO... will accept the standard g26 mags G19/17/19x mags... had one for a bit, but got rid of it for a G19(wanted the option for a light)... really can't go wrong with a Glock because Glock is Glock no matter the caliber. Purpose built weapons and certainly not pretty...

I like my G26 and CCW it but I like calibers beginning with a "40" so I also CCW much of the time my G27 .40.
I took a new member of my church security team to the range yesterday to shoot his new Glock which was a model 45 (9mm). I had not handled one prior but I was impressed with it. Model 45 has a M17 frame with a M19 slide. Grip is slimmer than a regular M17 (?)

I’ve heard little bad about the G26.
A little chunky these days but a positive performer.

Never was a Glock fan until I purchased my 27. I prefer the .40 over 9mm.
But the 26 carries the same reputations.

Yeah, I like the 40 over 9mm too, I only went with the 26 so I could share magazines with my 9mm AR. I really liked my Gen 3 27.

I've carried one for about 6 years. It's great for carry, I can easily have 12+1 on tap with a 19 round G17 mag in my pocket.
I've held the P365 and the Hellcat, sure they're smaller, but neither blew me away enough to dump my Glock.

CH4,,,That’s a nice Glock collection,,,
I purchased my 27 on a whim and it’s one of the best handguns I own and that I shoot the best. I use this as a carry piece and the only other Glock I own is. 33

Glock 26
The 26 is hands down the best all around small pistol I have found.
The deciding factor for me was that my department mandated the Glock 17 or 19, and I liked the magazine interchangeability.
If you really look, the 26 is smaller than the 19, but not all that much side by side, when you see that you are giving up 5 rounds. If you are going to put magazine or grip extensions on it, do your self a favor and look hard at the 19 (unless you want both-lol)
Where it shines is as a back up either in an ankle or vest holster.
These days I like it for CCW use because under a sweatshirt or short jacket, even in a OWB holster there is no extra barrel length to stick out.
Also, if you are going to customize, you can change sights, trigger, almost every internal part. The market is just loaded with Glock parts and accessories.

Kind of redundant here, but, yep it's a great gun, shoots well, carries well. I have a 26 and a 33.

The 26 also does not take up much space on a battle belt rig. It tucks in nicely between magazine pouches, bayonet and other battle rattle.

Hard to beat a glock for reliability
I own the 19 and love it. It has never jammed on me, and I've had it for 9 or 10 years. It's my bedside gun. My brother has the 26 and I've shot it a good bit. Personally I prefer the 19. I like having at least 3 fingers around the butt (of the gun). Just didn't like the short grip on the 26, but it's a great little carry gun. I'm sure you would be happy with either. I agree with the earlier comment about adding extended magazines to the 26. If you're going to do that just get the 19 and you're carrying 15 + 1.

In my opinion, the Glock 26 continues to be one of the best pistols ever produced by Glock. It is a little chunky and not the prettiest girl at the dance but it is versatile and is small enough to be carried but large enough to be a serious fighting pistol.

I have owned a Glock 17, 19, 26 and 34.
IMO the 26 is too small and the 34 is too big.
YMMV

I have several Glocks and enjoy shooting especially my G19's and G17. I have a G26 for well over a decade but have always preferred to carry the G19 for the simple fact, that I can draw the longer gripped G19 much more positively and also get faster follow up shots because of that.
Since I have a SIG Sauer P365, the G26 has not been carried anymore and the G19 is my winter gun.

I currently have a GEN 3-MOD19, a GEN 5- MOD19 and a GEN 3 MOD17. I had a GEN 3 MOD26 I sold to a good friend about six months ago and now regret it. There are differences between Glock GENS you might want to look at before buying. I like the Glocks and mags are relatively cheap. One of my 19's has a small strobe type light on it and sits next my bed. Glock now has a ton of new models, I believe you should stick with a 26 or 19 for all around use.

I'm Really Surprised At How Popular The Glock 26 Is
Mostly because this is a S&W forum.
I have been carrying a Glock 26 daily for over two years. The first time I ever shot one was in a training class. I was carrying a Glock 19 a friend of mine was carrying his Glock 26. I was considering buying one so I asked him if I could try his and he switched with me and allowed me to use his 26 for the remainder of the class.
I was amazed. I could not tell the difference between the two guns while I was shooting.
The gun that he let me use had a factory 12 round magazine and I found it just long enough to get a full grip on but still small enough to be concealable. I was so impressed that as soon as the class was over I drove straight to my local gun shop and bought one.

IMO that's comes down to two parts. Are you a 9mm fan or not, and what manner are you planning to carry it. I'm not a big 9mm guy, I've owned a number of 9s and a number of Glocks, but I would choose a G33 or G27 ten times out of ten over a G26. As far as carrying, the baby Glocks are a chunk in the pocket and on the hip I've never found a compact Glock any harder to carry or conceal. With thinner and smaller 9s with the same capacity out now like P365 and Hellcat you certainly have other options. Is the G26 a good gun however, of course it is, especially if you pair it with a G19. Just not my flavor with the options we have these days.

I carry a glock 26 in my pocket every night and I frequently forget it's there
BUT
I wear Wrangler cargo pants at work. I don't think you could even get it in the pocket on a pair of regular pants

I was looking at a Glock to pair up with my Ruger PCC. It was going to be 19 or 26.
I ended up with a 26 for a couple reasons...I found a really good priced and lightly used Gen3. I live in a limited magazine capacity state for now, so the extra capacity of the 19 was a moot point for me.
I do have some 10 round G19 PMAGs with a spacer so I can get a full grip if needed on the 26.
I much prefer to shoot the Glock vs my Shield as it fits my hand better but I still carry the Shield most of the time because of the size and weight difference.

G26 was “the one” until I handled G43X and acquired S15 mags for it
My CCW Hall of Fame inductees:
Pocket carry = M&P 340
On the belt = G43X
Honorable mention = P365

There is no one answer, everyone is different. How well can U shoot what you are carrying? Until you hold one in your hands and see how it feels for YOU other people opinions are kinda moot.
Everyones needs are different, and they change, heck I've carried my Glock 22 IWB with no problem, but its not the best for summer in FL, went and got a G 43 for that, it just disappears, never even know its there. 7+1 with the grip extender and its perfect for me, not chunky like the 26, never liked the grip on the 26, too fat for me.
Now the G22 has a laser/light rig and is my nightstand gun, that light will blind anyone in front of it for 30ft, laser is bright too.
Looking for a SIG P320 M18, with 19/21 mags for my next bug out truck gun, dont see a need for extra capacity in a little carry gun, just be invisible there.
To each his own, sometimes I still use my 4" 686 if I'm headed into the woods with full power .357 JSP, because, its good to have options.
Buy them all I say, keep shooting.

I have a G27, as someone said, identical to the G26 shown except for caliber and a slightly wider slide. I sold my G26 to get one. Mine looks like the one pictured. I kept the 40 cal barrel and installed a 357 Sig. Despite rumors, 357 Sig IS available in bigger gun stores and IS NOT horribly expensive. Underwood makes a variety of excellent rounds. I installed Hi Viz sights, a HYVE mag extension, and slide "ears". I get 1.5" groups at 7 & 10 yards, rapid fire. Twenty-eight out of thirty in an FBI silhouette target in less than 60 seconds. Flyers were one in the throat and one in the lower ear. My EDC.

I've been reading the posts in this thread and it seems a good number of us prefer the G-27 (.40 S&W) over the G-26 (9mm).......me included.
I still have a G-26 that was my primary CCW for quite awhile, but once I bought a G-27 it quickly became my preferred CCW. For me it is simply a preference of .40 S&W over the 9mm rounds.

One of the nice bonuses with the Glock 26 is the ability to use Glock 19, 17, or even the 32 round magazines in it. You can carry it with the standard 10 round mag, but keep a higher capacity mag in your pocket and /or vehicle if needed.

I think it's among the best choices when it comes to subcompact 9mm Pistols. A lot of folks will argue that smaller, slimmer, lighter designs like the SIG P365 and SA Hellcat are better, but I disagree. If you have larger hands like I do, then a grip that is too small or too thin, then it can/will negatively effect your accuracy.
That being said, I would recommend the Glock 27 over the Glock 26, not just because I'm a fan of .40 S&W but because the Glock 27 can be easily/inexpensively converted to 9mm Luger with just a drop in conversation barrel, and currently .40 S&W seems to be more available and less expensive than 9mm Luger.

Here is a S&W analogy on the G26 - It is the equivalent of the S&W Model 12 2” K-frame snubbie - small, limited sight radius, a bit light to soak recoil.
The Glock 19 is the standard that Modern CCW and concealed duty pistols are compared against. The G26 is a smaller, lighter version such as the Model 12 was the lighter version of the M&P/Model 10.
I have a G19 and S&Ws, but almost exclusively carry a G26. I maximized the G26 with a Shield Red Dot (to limit the sight radius issue), a TLR light and use the Magpul 12 round magazine for a bit more grip/ammo. It comfortably rides in AIWB holster, for hours/days at a time. As others have noted, the G26 is solidly shootable, concealable and has a high reliability for such challenging size.
In a recent thread, I posted about how I shot a mini-Kahr 9mm to unreliability (9k +/- rounds). My belief is tiny guns are hard to make truly reliable, both due to inherent engineering issues and human performance challenges. The supply chain is also great, so you can repair or replace parts when needed. The G26 is reliable for me and has the bonus of being relatively affordable to replace when round counts reach large numbers.

My Gen 3 G26 was a jam-o-matic and threw brass at my face hard enough to be dangerous if I wasn't wearing glasses. I ended up carrying my Taurus PT111 G2 the entire time I owned the 26. I studied a bunch online (it turns out the brass to face issue is well documented with 9mm Glocks) and replaced parts one at a time until it was reliable, which did not completely fix the brass to face problem but helped, then I sold it.
Besides the issues I had, it was an awkward gun to shoot with the short fat grip and horrible trigger. My H&K P2000SK feels a million times better in my hand than the G26 did.

IMO the 26 is too small and the 34 is too big.
YMMV

Funny my only Glocks these days are a 26 and 34. I see no reason to buy the 17 when the 34 exists.

I have a buddy that has a Gen3 that I can shoot 4" patterns at 20 yards. With my Gen 4 G26 I was lucky to get all 10 rounds on a silhouette at 10 yards. I sold it last spring.
For Glock I am down to a G20SF (10mm) and G37 (45GAP). The 37 is easier to shoot and has similar ballistics to the G20 but is limited to 10 rounds. The G20SF's larger grip has taken a bit more to get used to but it is an awesome gun.

I don't have a 26 but have a G27 gen 3 which has been my go to CCW for probably 10 years or more. It's everything I would ever need in a carry piece. I prefer .40 which is why I own the 27.

I remember reading a Massad Ayoob article where he shoots his G26 in a GSSF match better than with other competitors with longer guns eg, G17, G34.
I can't find the exact article, but here's a link to another of his articles discussing the shoot ability of the G26 in GSSF Matches.

I have two semi-autos I carry for CCW. My G26 is by far one of my most-carried handguns. It fits in my right front pants pocket easily in hot weather, or in a Milt Sparks Summer Spl IWB. It's perfect if I want a really small yet full-power pistol. My other Glock is a Gen3 G17 for which i have a Milt Sparks IWB also.
All my other CCW handguns are revolvers.
