I recently bought one of those .22 LR Heritage Barkeeps, and the magnum cylinder. Cheap, inexpensive, value-priced, call it what you will. But, the .22 Rough Rider I bought for Sarah my daughter for Christmas when she was 16 or 15 has been very reliable and it hits pretty much which can you're aiming at within the 25 yard line. I bought it as a "walk the dog at night in my 'hood" change of pace gun. Give it away if I don't want it anymore. I read an article about the Charter Arms .41 Mag snubby. It seems like a nice little revolver for under $500. The author said it kicks more than the .357 magnums of similar offerings; less than .44 specials. Considering the power of a .357, the .41 doesn't seem to be on the top of one's list, but the price is just right for my poor self. They also have a .45 LC too, about the same price. And no big long cylinder for shot shells. Had I known, I may have bought one instead of the .22. (But for under $200, in this present gun market, for the price of a couple nice dinners, no problem.)
Is anyone familiar with this CA MagPug in .41 magnum caliber? While the Charter Arms product is not heirloom material, I don't recall any bad quality comments like the Taurus seems to attract. Also, like that .22, $450-475 for a walkin'thedog gun doesn't seem too far out for consideration.
Thanks, Jeff T.

I have and shoot a few Pugs in .44 special. They are a handful with Winchester Silvertips. I imagine the .41 Mag would be...unpleasant.

My thoughts exactly . If you reload you could use the .41 Special brass that Starline makes to load it down and still have a good SD/Dog Walking gun .

I briefly toyed with a PitBull in .45acp. I felt it was too much with ball ammo, so off she went. I don't feel that my BullDog in .44 is anywhere near as enlightening to shoot, LOL. Suffice to say, I know the .41 is built on that up-sized PitBull frame, and I shudder to think what it would be to touch one off.

Thanks folks. That's enough for me! My M629-6, 6" .44Mag weighs in at about 45 oz., is at the top end of my shooting enjoyment as far as "fun" vs. pain, so I'm sure the .41 Mag wouldn't last long at my house. If it hurts there's no fun in target shooting let alone using for protection from what or whoever. I don't reload so I suppose saving my money for more worthwhile purchases will be my present direction.
Thanks a lot!

As a long time user of a S&W Model 640-1 and having put a good amount of full power, 357 Magnums through it, I cannot imagine that a compact 41 Magnum revolver would be something pleasant to shoot.

Not only would that be unpleasant to shoot, but if you don't reload then calibers like 41 Magnum or 44 Special are not for you.

Have a 357 MagPug and a 44 special Bulldog. Sure they kick cause they are lighter guns for those calibers. Good guns both and both carry well and are easy to conceal. Wouldn't want to get shot with either. Charter arms puts excellent grips on their revolvers which really helps the recoil. The 41 magnum prolly leave a mark but none of them are range guns. Can't go wrong IMHO.

Shooting a 657 3" with full loads is not real pleasant, the CA with those narrow rubber grips would be brutal...and now that ammo is WELL over a buck a round if you can find any would not make a great combination...

...and I love .41s...

So the .41 mag kicks less than the .44 Special? The most reasonble explanation for that statement is Traumatic Brain Injury brought on by firing the .41 Mag. Pug...
I have 2 of the Charter revolvers i was referring to. Do you own a a 357 or 44 charter handgun? Do you own a 41 Mag Charter revolver? I don't so therefore I guess i don't have the Traumatic Brain Injury that caused me to say dumb things.

I went with the .45 Pitbull. Recoil is brisk but not painful. It's my truck gun. Doesn't get shot much but I've been very pleased with it. I've never shot a .41 magnum but suspect it would be very unpleasant in such a light gun.
