Lady Rents a HK MP5 and Walks Out the Door With It.

The couple of times I've rented one an employee carried the gun to the range, stood behind you the whole session, then cleared it and carried it back. Hard to believe they just let people wander around unsupervised with a weapon like that.

If this was legit full-auto, long before anyone STEALS the damn thing, it's completely ludicrous that they would rent that to someone and not go with them and be literally within a foot of them simply to ensure the renter doesn't lose complete control and firehose that thing in every conceivable direction.

They probably oughta lose their FFL.

A few years back Mrs Lakesider and I went to a range and rented a Galil and a Uzi. ( I wanted to shoot the Thompson but it was not available that day!) Yes they took our identification and I carried the two FA weapons to the firing line. I had one in each hand held vertically and she operated the doors and carried the ammo. I asked at the counter if that was OK and was told yes.

Went in set the weapons down safely and talked with the working RO. He watched all of us very well and then a couple neewbies came in and they took most of his time. Wife and I had already demonstrated good range savvy and he just glanced at us now and then. Got done with the 2 FAs went back to the counter and the both of us rented a couple pistols.

Went back to the shooting station and tried out the handguns.

Everything worked smooth and all concerned had a good time. The RO was talking (BSing) to us before we left and said something like "for New Yorker's you two know your way around FA guns."

Another strike against wearing hats indoors, too. Not how she stands so that the bill on the cap conceals much of her face.

I hate hats. Got in trouble more than once for not wearing a hat in uniform. But the security company I used to work for made ballcaps mandatory when shooting with auto pistols. I assume to prevent brass from getting behind ones shooting glasses.

I have been to a couple of ranges that rent full autos, as well as a machine gun shoot....never have I seen or heard of a worker there just handing over a full auto weapon and letting the person head to the range by themselves. Every time the worker holds the gun until the shooter is ready and then after the shooting is done, takes immediate control of the weapon and returns it to storage/safe/where ever they keep them.

I ALWAYS wear a billed cap when firing or being around fired semiautos, indoors or out. I once had a hot 9mm cartridge case drop down between my glasses and cheek. NOT a fun time!

The level of negligence by that range employee is just astonishing. He has to be terminated, if for no other reason than to try to show the ATF that the range takes its FFL and the conditions attached to it seriously.

That gun is already with its new cartel owner. There are a few low cost places around here where you could do that, I hope they are paying attention.
