I surf the gun culture on the net daily, looking for quality made firearms across the shooting spectrum. A couple of months ago, I noticed that Tisas had produced a clone of the U.S.Army 1911 a1 45acp of WWII vintage. I read all of the comments on it that I could find. I was impressed and intrigued by the number of positive comments. I have owned and shot a number of Colt 1911 pistols that no longer grace my safe. I got the fever once again and bought this Tisas 45acp. I have a number of S&W revolvers in 45acp, the one in the photo is a model 1917 U.S. Army serial number 88718 in pristine condition. The gray Tisas is next and the third is a custom Auto-Ordance with mainly Colt parts.
The Tisas 1911 met all my expectations and more. The trigger pull was light and crisp right out of its case. When I picked it up at the range/gunshop the gunsmith and I compared the trigger on his custom 1911. He was impressed. The range target at 10 yards shows the head shots with the S&W compared to the lower target with the Tisas. I am very pleased with this all steel, forged pistol.

If you guys want a low cost $320 dollar and it makes for a great foul weather 45 pick up a kahr CT45 . Its 1" wide weight is 21.5oz no mags with 8 round of 230gr its 29.1oz with a wilson 8 round flat bottom mag and 5" tall with that mag . Trigger pull on mine averages 4lb 6oz ' I has a short DA style trigger pull with no stacking of oull weight and is ultra smooth . Make a small notch in the bottom front of the grip just like a 1911 has and most 1911 mags will work in it . I have a bunch of wilson colt and kimber mags including 10 round mags that run in mine . The cmc shooting star needs some metal lowered in front of the feed lips to use. Mine also runs well with 45 super ammo thats to the heavy recoil spring and is safe with it as it comes .

This pistol is closer in size to a colt defender or kimber ultra but with 1" more barrel .

My primary carry is a lw commander

I have a couple KAHRs (none admittedly in 45acp), but shooting 45 Super:eek: in one is not exactly "my cup of tea"...

Now, in a Ruger American or my all steel R1 Govt. Model... Maybe?

Cheers!

I went to alaska on a fishing trip and took the ct45 along as bg bear defense . I did contact kahr and talked with there engineer that said it was good to shot with no changes needed . I did have to run the heavy lead ammo thru a sizing dies , decapper removed to fit those tight kahr chambers . Kahrs barrels tend to run a bit fast for length .

Most 45's would need some recoil spring up grades at least , maybe main spring too in your R1 .

STORMINORMAN Ruger american in 45 . I pass on that one . I could have taken my commander but the kahr is my foul weather pistol and they are stronger than you think they are . I carried a tp40 for 7 or 8 years before hand surgery o construction related - 155gr gd underwood average 1321fps from a 4" barrel on a 1300fps rated cartridge

Big Tisas fan. I’ve got their WW2 edition and their M45A1 clone:
