I've long been a fan of the old Ruger P-series pistols, starting with the P93 through the P97. I got a stainless P95 in 9mm when they first came out and loved that pistol, but (looking back) foolishly sold it off for something else. One of the pistols I wish I would have kept.
Anyway, the past couple years I've obtained a 9mm Ruger P93 and a .40 S&W Ruger P94. I have longed for a .45 ACP Ruger P97 for 4 years at least, and finally found one on the big auction site. I have never seen one around my area.
This will need a good cleaning in all the nooks and crannies but I am happy with this score and consider my P series trifecta complete.

My wife’s nightstand pistol is a Ruger 95 she “liberated “ from me back in ‘96. She shoots it really well so that’s why she has it and not me.

I picked up a Ruger 97 that was in DAO trim that I carried as my woods walking pistol for quite a while. Even took a couple of wild hogs with it way back when. Sold it to a good friend who still has it today.

Congrats on finding one in pretty good shape.

I have a stainless P95 DC that I bought new back when they were in production. Great pistols. I remember when Ruger did a sort of torture test of the P95. 20,000 rds of 9mm+P+ with no damage.

My friend's P97 was slightly less accurate than my tank P90 ... but his gun would feed full wadcutter ammo out of the magazine. Man, those are great .45s!

I have a P97DC.
Great shooter.
Built like a tank.
Carries like one too.
Get a really good belt & holster!

I had a P97dc but never had in interest in CC'n it so it stayed in the safe for some years . I did carry a LW commander and still do . I ended up selling to a son in law some 10 years ago .

I had a 97DC many years ago and shot hundreds of rounds thru it with no issues. Was a very solid gun. As with many over the past 50+ years, it went down the road for something else I had to have.

I have a P 90 that I don't shoot much any more. The last 1 I owned was sold off, and I missed it. This will probably stay with me. In really good shape. Bob

Only Bill Ruger could find a way to overbuild a polymer pistol. They are amazingly robust considering there are no steel inserts (that I can see) for the slide to run on. I picked up a used 95DC very cheap for my then GF (now wife) to have. They are easier to rack than most common 9mm pistols.

A good friend uses one as his bedside gun. I have XXL hands, and that gun fills them nicely. Shoots good too. Congratulations on your find.

Yeah, I've never tried very hard to conceal my P97DC either.

I've worn it in an OWB holster with an untucked, unbuttoned, loose shirt over it. So it was more of an OC / CC deal.

IMO, it is really too big for me to CC, especially since I have several better options for fully concealed carry.
