Only keep 10 guns?
This thread is basically un-American. The idea was suggested that we should start a thread of only keeping 10 guns from the accumulations of our lifetime.
Basic rules: Limit 10 guns, they have to exist, you don't have to currently own it. Only ONE 10 gun list a day per person, anyone could feel differently tomorrow.
I will start,
1. my personal 1911 in 45ACP
2. My current EDC< Model 49 no dash 38 Special
3. Browning Citori 725 Sporting 32" 410
4. Model 17-3 22LR
5. Kimber of Org. 82V 22 LR
6. Browning Superpose (1965) Lightning 30" 12 Ga.
7. Savage 10 BAS in 308Win
8. Weatherby Vanguard VGX (1985) 300 Win Mag
9. JM Marlin 1895 guide gun 45-70
10. Shilo Sharps 1874 45-70
Took 8 revisions to narrow it down!
Ivan
ETA, RULES CLARIFICATION: How many Uppers per AR Lower? All you want! ow many barrels per rifle, shotgun, Contender & etc.? Also all you want!
It used to be that one European nation (Belgium I think) allowed the citizens in good standing to have 3 guns. One each Rifle, Shotgun, and Handgun! This could have just been a nasty rumor.

In the beginning...... for 15-20 years I only ever had a half dozen or less handguns.......
then I had a wife, family and a house for the last 30 years and the accumulation started!! Deals and guns too nice/good to leave behind.......

I'm sort of cheating here because I only own 13 firearms, one of which is a duplicate in an alternate chambering and one of which I dislike, but...
4006TSW
590 Shockwave
Judge Magnum
LCP
M&P15X
M&P40c
M&P40 Shield Performance Center 1.0
PPK/S (.380 ACP)
PT-92AFS
H&K USP45 Elite
Uh-oh, now I've done it... There are multiple Smith & Wesson firearms on that list. I am officially feeling special right now. Goodnight, everyone...

I tried this once. I didn't like it. Came up with these...but it's changed slightly since then.

There were times in my life when I was down to three, a 58 caliber flintlock smoothbore, an Ithaca 1911A1 and a Winchester 37. They handled everything I really needed to do in Ohio. Choosing 10 seems luxurious but I'll play.
1: Fox Sterlingworth (Philadelphia) 16 GA.
2: Ithaca 1911A1
3: Ruger 10/22 Takedown, stainless with suppressor.
4: S&W 10-6
5: M1 Garand
6: 20ga Flintlock SXS, French styling, not English.
7: S&W 442, no lock
8: Ruger Single Six in 32 Mag
9: Savage 110 CL, 30-06
10: Marlin 94, 32-20

Suddenly I feel less special, so I'm probably safe... But you, you're callin' down the thunder on yourself, pal! Who do you think you are, making a list of 10 Smith & Wesson firearms on the Other Brands Subforum?

Interesting exercise, and also, damn you Ivan. At first blush, 10 seems like a pretty generous number to work with. Then reality raises it's ugly head. I have ALWAYS disliked having just one gun of a particular caliber/gauge, but I see on my list that the only caliber I have two of is the .22LR. Just one shotgun? Absolutely zero 5.56/.223 ARs. Only one 9mm? Preposterous!
Oh, well, here's the list. (At least I get my dearly-missed M1A1 back!)
1. Ruger M77 MKII RSI .308 Win.
2. Marlin 39A .22LR
3. Custom AR .300 Blk
4. Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga (3 barrels)
5. Thompson M1A1 .45 ACP
6. S&W M19-1 4" .357 Mag
7. Browning Hi-Power 9mm
8. S&W K22 Target Masterpiece .22LR
9. S&W M29-2 6" Nickel .44 Mag
10. S&W .38 Combat Masterpiece 4"
One per day? Okay, working on tomorrow's list...

1. S&W Model 1955 45 ACP
2. S&W Model 66 357 Mag
3. Taurus PT 1911 45 ACP
4. Sig P365XL 9mm
5. Savage 110 (several barrels)
6. Ruger 10/22
7. Browning BPS 12 Ga
8. Ruger American 270 Win
9. Ruger Hawkeye African 375 Ruger
10.Springfield M1A 308 Win
On second thought, replace #8 with an AR-15 with seven uppers: 5.56, 7.62x39, 6mm ARC, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC, 350 Legend, and 450 Bushmaster. #8 is my favorite deer rifle, but #5 with three bolt heads can easily step up to fulfill that function with one of its many barrels: 204 Ruger, 223 Rem, 243 Win, 260 Rem, 6.5 CM, 7mm-08, 270 Win, 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 300 Win Mag.

I was asked a simple question, what 10 would you save. Since I have already started selling off everything else, no matter how many I end up owning, the will all be S&W, 45 ACP, revolvers.

Before our recent move I had pared the bush down to 9. Lately I have been giving serious consideration to whittling it down to our His & Hers carry pieces and a high cap nightstand pistol.
I know that's only three but I suck at math. But, you already knew that.

If this ever became a law, I would move if possible. If it became a necessity I would work harder. Sorry, no list.

Took me too long and too much $$ to get to the 30-odd I have, to even consider thinning the herd now. I did give it some thought, but never could get the list below 20.

This game is painful for me as a milsurp guy and collector of pistols with weird operating systems.
Enfield No.4 Mk 1 built on an Enfield No1 Mk VI receiver, because I'll never see another.
Stag AR-15 with a PSA 18" LW upper.
MAS 49-56 properly converted to 7.62 NATO/.308, because it's true DI, not Stoner system like an AR.
RIA STK 100, because it's metal and takes Glock mags.
Walther PPS M2, for deep concealment.
6" Model 686
3" Model 65
Grand Power K100
Yugoslav M48BO with the Iraqi royal crest, because I'll never see another.
Scoped Swiss K31, because I like to do my wet work at distance. (Hi, Caje! )
EDITED: Replaced the 5" M&P 9mm with the Walther.

Only picking from what I own:
1. SIG P365
2. Cold Gold Cup in .45 ACP
3. .308 Savage "Scout"
4. Rem 870 in 12 Ga.
5. Marlin XT-22 in .22 mag
6. PSA 10" AR pistol in 5.56
7. Smith 60-15 in .357
8. Walther P-22 w/suppressor (wet work???)
9. Kel-Tec .380
10. Savage Axis in .223
Can't believe there's not a Hi-Power on that list, but I picked the 10 that would be most useful to me.

Ha! What an impossible task. And I don't care what Mike says, it's an amusement!
S&W Model 25 (.45Colt)
S&W M686+ 3" (.357 Magnum)*
S&W M649 (.38 Special)
S&W M5906 (9mm)
Walther CCP (9mm)
CZ 75 compact (9mm)
AR-15 (.223/5.56 NATO)**
Remington M788 (.308 Winchester)
Ithaca M 37 (12 gauge)
High Standard derringer (.22 Magnum)
Beretta Model 70S (.22)
Star Model S (.380)
Okay, that's 12, I cheated..............and I didn't add a .22 caliber rifle. This is too hard!
*I guess I should keep my S&W M10 in .357 Magnum. I'll rethink it....
**I have to keep one, yes?

I had the first Ruger 77 International in 308 in Central Ohio. It shot terrible with any of 18 different factory loads. 3" to 4" groups at 50 yards from a rest and scoped with Burris 2-7 compact scope. Traded it off right away and lost no money.
I always heard that 243 was what that gun was designed around.

I don’t think it’s meaningless. It’s a fun way of saying what’s your favorite 10 guns. Or what guns are most useful. I mean at the end of the day, nobody here is curing cancer. We’re all wasting time.
