Default 5 pistols - size comparison - my own comments

Below are five pistols so close in size as to be almost indistinguishable. I'm taking them all to the range tomorrow.

Top to bottom:

*Walther CCP 9mm
*S&W CS-45 .45 ACP
*CZ 75 Compact 9mm
*Beretta 85-FS .380 ACP
*S&W 6906 9mm

Except for the Beretta I have carried each of the other 4 at some point in time. I don't carry the Beretta, even though I really like it, because it seems pointless to me to carry a .380 that is the same size as some of my 9mms. When I decided to go higher capacity I switched from the CS-45 to the 6906. Then I acquired the CCP (okay, less capacity, admittedly) and in size it's similar to the CS-45 but far less bulk and exceedingly easy to conceal. The largest pistol in length is the CZ but it's not terribly hard to conceal.

I keep thinking about going back to the CS-45 but we shall see after tomorrow. The Beretta is coming along for recoil comparison.

And then there's the mouse.........

I have never carried that Seecamp .32 or even fired it so tomorrow should be interesting. It could go into the rotation in the summertime if I like it.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. Tell your pistol story.

Oh, I'm shooting a revolver tomorrow, too, but it's not relevant to the above. Neither is my EDC M649.

Bet a milkshake the CZ is the most accurate, if that sort of thing is tested for.

Maybe between the Walther & CZ?

Look forward to hearing the results.

I think the CZ will be a terrible shooter and would be happy to take it off your hands !!

If you’re not too familiar with Seecamp be aware it has a heavy double action pull on purpose. You really have to know you are pulling the trigger in a self defense situation. Read up on the take down instructions in the manual. Any goobers on top of barrel caused by taking off or removing slide can be touched up with a grey scotch brite pad and a little oil.

I shot that Seecamp yesterday, just one magazine to see how it felt. I wouldn't call the double action pull heavy but it is VERY long. At the end of the soft but long pull the actual firing was not difficult. I was always told that these little guns were designed to fire only Winchester Silvertips (which I think are now impossible to find) but I shot 6 rounds of PMC Bronze 60 grain JHPs through it without any problems except I thought the recoil was a little stout. But up close and personal it would never matter.

I didn't shoot the Beretta because I forgot to bring ammunition for it. I know........

I fired one magazine through the CS-45. I got a light strike on the first round but it went off when I loaded it back into the chamber after I finished the string. If I can get a picture of the double hit brass I'll post it here.

The 6906 performed perfectly and it's likely to get back into the rotation because my lady friend has her eyes on my Walther CCP. But we shall see what she thinks AFTER she finally gets around to finally shooting it.

And that's my follow up story..........
