optic for .300 Blackout pistol
I just put together a AR 300 Blackout pistol. I put a set of magpul flip-up sights on it as backup but want to put either a red dot or something with some magnification on it. I am trying not make it too heavy or cumbersome. For those of you who have PPC's similar to this, please advise what you use or suggest. I have a .9mm AR pistol with a Holosun with a Holosun HS 303CU on it.

Sig Romeo if you're on a budget, EoTech if you aren't.

I have a Holosun H5503G-ACSS on my 300 Blackout pistol. The reticle is kind of like an Eotech except for a chevron in the middle of the circle with ranging tic marks below the center dot. The ACSS CQB reticle specs show how to use it with both subsonic and supersonic 300 Blackout - which is a big part of why I got this one. It’s fairly lightweight with virtually no eye relief constraints; however, I’ve mounted mine so far forward I have trouble making out the range hash marks. Need to move it back. The shake awake feature is really nice. Push buttons on top for brightness control +/- isn’t great for me.
My Ruger LC 45 PCC sports a Primary Arms SLX 1x prism with the ACSS Gemini reticle. It’s for 9mm but I’ve worked out drops with my 45 ACP ammunition. Only the circle and the center chevron are illuminated. You can see the reticle even if the battery dies. Eye relief is generous. Unlike the Holosun, the PA prism comes with multiple mount inserts so you can get the height you want. Also “shake awake” and brightness is a big knob on the left side.
I have to have my glasses on to see either reticle clearly because of astigmatism. I like 1x on both firearms. The 45 isn’t going more than 100 yards and the 300 Blackout is for range fun and home defense. Primary Arms does make prism optics with 300 Blackout/7.62x39 ranging hash marks. I have a GLX 2x that used to be on a 30-30 lever action rifle. Reticle was useful, but that optic is twice as long as the others. Mounting was too high so I guess it will go on the 3rd string AR.
Sorry - didn’t mean to type an essay. Your question got me thinking. I brought out both firearms and compared the reticles and features. Each has pluses and minuses.

I have been running a Trijicon MRO HD with their 3x magnifier and find it works very well.

OP, I think many folks will agree that there are so many really good choices....
It may be helpful to provide the following:
-budget
-barrel length
-intended for range only, going to see heavy, rough use, etc.?
-to what distance do you wish to use this firearm?
-CQB/in-home defense?
-fixed or variable magnification?
-or do you want to use a 1x optic with a flip out/over magnifier?
-at what height over the rail do you wish to have the optic? (alternatively, do you want absolute or 1/3 co-witness with your Magpul BUIS?)
One of my 300 blk pistols is a suppressed DD4 PDW (now an SBR)....
I have it set up to be for in-home defense. I have a "mini ACOG" TA45 (1.5x24) with red crosshair reticle. I cannot use red dots or green dots because of the severity of my astigmatism. This particular ACOG works really well as I can use BAC (again, my vision creates lots of challenges).
If you can answer some or all of the above, I think that it will help folks provide "better" recs to suit your use and purpose for that particular firearm.

I have a Holosun on mine. It's my bed gun so I'm using it for 100 yards and under. Two and four legged predators.

As far as red dots are concerned, I'm a big fan of Holosun (battery + solar) and have them on a couple of my pistols...M&P 10mm 2.0 and SIG MPX. However, I don't think that I'm going to put one on the .300 BLK AR-15 8" pistol that I recently built. I intend to use my .300 BLK for up-close-and-personal home defense and for vehicle use with suppressor and subsonic ammo, probably 25 yards or less. I am actually more comfortable shooting with flip-up iron sights at close range, but I can always throw a Holosun on the .300 BLK if I change my mind down the road. There are lots of great RDOs out there these days, so good luck with your decision.

Hawg Rider, that's pretty much the usage I am thinking of as well. I have a AR 9mm PCC as well and that one has a Holosun HS503 on it.

I have a Holosun 810 on my 8 1/2 inch barrel 300 blackout pistol with the Yankee Hill resonator suppressor. I shoot mainly subsonic ammo and I absolutely love the Holosun. It has a quick release clamp that goes directly to the Picatinny rail and is very lightweight and pretty compact. I love the circle dot and don’t like my sights that just have a single red dot Nearly as well.
