Forum members collect and often post photos of their handcuffs but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ball and shackles posted. I’ve had this for quite a few years and don’t remember when or where I picked it up. It’s, It’s an iron ball, chain and shackles with the key marked Alcatraz prison.
This is one heavy piece of iron and I can understand why this would slow down a bad boy trying to escape. The leg irons would slow a person down plus the weight of the ball. I haven’t weighed it but would guess it weighs 20-25 pounds. No idea when these were made but would guess early 1900’s or earlier. I wonder what bad boys wore these.
