I notice that this 34 doesn't have the "diamond", did they change patterns mid-model?

Forgive the poor photos, and the cheesy fake stag grips, but the factory numbered grips are stored away in the safe. This is my son's first J frame (only he doesn't know it yet).

From 1982 serated trigger but no pin for the barrel. Looks good but far from the best fitted or machined S+W I have shot.
