I'm a life member. I was talking to some friends today and I learned that the Friends of the NRA annual banquet was just held here in Charlotte, NC, and I never even got an email about it. Do any of you guys get emails from the NRA for stuff like that or other kind of notifications?

Wow, I never get any postcards, just letters asking for more money. Note to NRA: Do not send me any more trinkets from China--I will still give you $$$ anyway.

I find "Friends" events listed in the monthly sportsmen's paper here; the NRA affiliate also lists such events on its calendar.

The NRA itself does not send notices, in my experience.

The NRA does not send out notices. When I was on the local Friendsof NRA commitee,we had no access to any NRA mailing lists,we sent out invites to people that had attended previous banquets, and posted lots of flyers at gunshops, pawn shops, trap range and any other places that would let us.
The NRA and the Friends of NRA are two seperate organizations. The banquets are also listed in the NRA magazines.

Just got one in the mail today from our local "Friends of the NRA". My understanding, and I could be wrong, that these are local things and you would't get notified by the National folks. Call one of your local FFL's to get info.

i dont get much from the NRA in the way of mailings...except for renewal notices. i can scarcely afford my bills let alone a banquet dinner.

I have noticed a considerable "drop off" in NRA mailings since the Presidential Election and the beginning of the "economic downturn."

Seems like they are smart enough to "lay off" when there is no pressing issue at hand and so many people are having a rough time of it financially.

I just wish the government was as "thoughtful!"

Other than my monthly copy of American Rifleman, I haven't heard anything from the NRA since I signed up (I'm not up for renewel for another year). They seem to take it easy when there are no major gun issues going on, at least in recent history.

I get email from the NRA at least twice a day, if you want you can sign up on the web site and the NRA/ILA websight.

I believe you will find a box to check on the form if you do not want the merchandise sent to you. That's what I do.
