You can have one handgun. VOTING ENDS TODAY 2/2/10 AT 6:00 P.M. EST!!!!!

For many the difference between a bedside/CC piece is different than a "one handgun" which is what I believe many were choosing.

Not that any of this matters in real life but I am curious as well as some others must be.

I'm wondering the same thing TallPaul. Frankly for me there is a greater difference between my ccw handgun and what I'd choose for bedside or a field carry gun. My CCW pistol is usually a little KelTec, but for a nightstand gun I prefer a 1911A1 or K frame.

Jesus Christ! It's just a thread to get folk's opinion. Leave it to someone to read more into it than intended. I know more about handguns than probably 80% of the people in this forum. If people cannot read the rules then they need not respond! Lighten up! This thread is for entertainment, not scientific discection.
Steve

So are you going to tell us what this is about? are they guns you own that you need to put all others away or sell?

Or are ya so new to guns that ya think that list represents a complete list of desirable guns for the uses you describe?

half your results are skewed because folk did not read or comrehend the uses for the gun you asked to choose.

Normally it would be the 4" 629 for any "one gun" choice.

Load it with anything you want that it will chamber for the intended purpose. It is, afterall, a 44 Mag. With a good Win Silvertip 44 Special load would be easy for nearly anyone to shoot, not to mention effective, as a HD gun considering it's weight. A 4" Model 66 with full magnum loads may not be as easy to shoot for inexperienced people.

But the CC or nightstand option is a ringer. It may not be my first choice there, but would work. However, since the criteria is "one gun" then that would be the one gun.

My replies are below his questions.

Why must you limit yourself to only one gun from your 25 gun list?
BECAUSE IT IS MY POST.
Is someone taking all of these guns, but one, away from you? Is this some sort of court-ordered separation?
TALK ABOUT NOSEY!

How did you compile this list? Do you now own all of these guns? Is your list from the unfullfilled 2009 Christmas letter to Santa Claus?
THESE ARE GUNS I EITHER OWN OR HAVE OWNED.

Assuming that you now have access to these 25 guns, which one are you now using as your bedside/carry gun? Why don't you just continue using this gun?
I WANTED TO GET OTHER'S OPINION.

If you are choosing to liquidate all but one gun from your 25 gun collection, you could probably choose to buy any gun you wanted using the proceeds from the sale.
DO YOU READ SOMETHING INTO EVERYTHING YOU ENCOUNTER IN YOUR OWN LIFE? YOU NEED TO LIGHTEN UP.
THIS POST IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT/FACT FINDING ONLY.

Stipulating that all of your guns are reliable and operational, if I were picking one of your guns to use as a carry gun, I'd choose the COLT COMMANDER SERIES 80 .45 ACP.

I'd use whatever standard pressure .45ACP JHP ammunition was available.

Jesus Christ! It's just a thread to get folk's opinion...

:D :D :D That's what I thought you were up to. :)

Give me the Commander, but I would prefer an earlier one. :o

If not, the Series 80 will do just fine. I'll take any 230 gr .45 ammo that feeds reliably and is accurate in the gun.

(Honorable mention: standard P228.)

I just did an early quick tabulation. To be honest, I was really surprised at the results! It will be interesting to see what the final count is at 6:00 p.m.! I will post the results then.

listen bub - as much as ya have the right to post/ask/whatever - we have the right to do the same.

Know more than 80 percent of us? hmmm I doubt that from yer attitude- more like a mall ninja wanna be :p

your "poll" was apparently worded incorrectly and the range of what ya wanted to do was somewhat odd and I am not the only one to think so... likely we comprised of the upper 20 percent that are above your knowledge :D

Actually any of the plastic guns will do as long as I can shoot like this.

For me it would be the 66 4" .357, because it's sturdy enough to get the job done, short enough barrel to carry but long enough for adequate aim, not too big and heavy, cheap enough to shoot often, controllable and comfortable to shoot, and effective enough to hunt with if necessary.

I'd probably use .38 +P Speer Gold Dot in it.

Just as quick as he changes one of those two Smith 640 2" .38 Specials to a .357 mag, I will be able to vote. The mag is my gun.

It's easy to talk big when not in person. Maybe Lee would like to explain to you about trying to stir up trouble on "his" forum? Eh????

SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MIL-SPEC 1911A1 .45 ACP

Not exactly the brand I'd go for, probably, but it'll do the job.
