Think you've Heard it All?? (semi- resolution 4/14)

Hm, Ive had my fair share of being scammed via ebay etc, and this is definitely strange. I could see if he sent your money back asap and I would consider saying he decided not to sell it and was coming up with a 101 excuses, but he has YOUR money and all of a sudden doesnt have enough to send back to YOU?!

Id email him w/... You have "X" amount of days to return my funds or the authorities will be called. After you send that email I would print all the emails sent back and forth and note all the conversations and give copies to the authorities for proof.

People are lame and ruin it for so many others! What ever happened to honesty?!?

Maybe pay him a visit?! JK ;)

I was/am probably to easy on the guy, but then again, I am a soft touch. I have been in contact with the website (GA) and they have banned him from further sales adds. They did NOT ban him entirely as we might be able to communicate thru them. The guy did email me yesterday and thanked me for the extra time and understanding. This could very well be another prank to buy more time. (I said I was as soft touch, not stupid). If I don't have my money in a couple weeks, I will be posting his name, address, phone number and all details that I have. I want to communicate only facts that I can prove, as name calling and hurt feelings are often too readily displayed. I will also be contacting all the authorities that I think might help resolve this issue. I sure don't want any good folks to be taken by this guy, so before you make any gun deals with a guy from Moore, Oklahoma, email me to be sure it isn't this guy.
Happy Easter to all! Life is too short to lose sleep over this kind of stuff.
Lonnie

Your money, your call.

I'd have already had a couple of informal chats over the phone w/sheriff &/or City PD dropping this guy's name to see if anyone had a profession association.

Even under the best of intentions it's fraud at the very least.

He could've pawned the rifle, or something for a 30 day loan.

Watch your back.

He's already in your pocket & dictating his own terms.

This sounds very much like a run around I got from a person in Ohio about a 71 Browning. I got the rifle after I called the local Sheriff's Office and asked about him. After the call to the SO he called within and hour and I had my rifle in two days. These guys get around.

Whenever I buy something over the internet gun forum classifieds, gunbroker, or similar sites, I insist on a three day inspection period before the other party cashes or deposits my postal money order. If I find the gun to be something other than advertised, I expect the original check to be sent back to me.

If the other party will not agree to this, I will not buy the item. I also follow the same rule if I am the seller. This guy is obviously scamming you. I would give him until a specific date, and tell him exactly what is going to take place if a postal money order for the entire amount is not in your hand by that date.

IMO, he has been stringing you along for too long at this point.

geez, this guy must be in training for the Feds already in some sort of official capacity.....big promises, no performance, no delivery, blaming other people for his failure, fancy talk, living on money from others....all while making YOU feel guilty about it...

by the way.....about them pistols of yers, have I got a deal for YOU ....*kaff*kaff*

I didn't realize the forum had a section to tell about transactions. I read the most of the bad ones. i was wondering if anyone considered COD it's a little more money but you know what you're getting and that you actually got it. i do it with my wholesalers if you know your delivery guy then you would probably have time to check it out while he/she waits. I think it cost me about $7-8 to have cod, but I would think money well spent. This would hold both people accountable at the same time kind of like a FTF. Just a thought. Doeboy

You don't have the priviledge of opening a COD package prior to payment.

It could be filled w/sack of rocks.

COD insures that the package gets in your hands before you pay...

Wanted to update the saga. I was out of town all week and returned home yesterday afternoon. I emailed the guy on the status of getting my money. I told him I needed it in my hand by the 16th in the form of a Postal Money Order or I would be notifiying the authorities. He emailed back saying that he would send it out Monday. Then emailed again saying he had to sell his ATV to get the money. Then emailed again wanting my phone number because we would have to communicate that way because he could no longer afford the internet. UNBELIEVABLE, but the whole mess is. So this morning my phone rings and it is him wanting to know if it had to be a Postal Money Order. I said YES! He said no problem. Then he calls back. He says he has a M1 Carbine and M1 Garand and wants to know if I am interested. I said NO. He wanted to know if I knew anyone that might be. NO..... then he calls back and says he has a set of Belgium Browning A5's, one 20ga and a 12 ga. Again NO. I'll keep you posted if he comes through with the money, but the poor guy sound sincere ( I know I'm a sucker). If anyone lives around Moore, Oklahoma, you might get a deal on some guns FTF. Let me know if you want his phone number.

I'm glad you got some "results" - sounds like the guy has a heap of financial problems - I hope he comes through for you. Good luck.

Pete

Update::::: :-)

I got a Postal Money Order in the mail today for $940. He said if he paid the full amount that he wouldn't have enough gas money to get back and forth to work. Ya, I've been scammed and he still owes me a few bucks, but he swears he will pay it off on payday. His note says to please believe that he is not a bad guy........... I just am amazed I got the vast majority of my money back..... happy ,, , happpy ,,, happppyy

Congratulations on a 'good' resolution to this issue. I'm also surprised that he came through with most of the money owed. Sounds like he's really struggling; tough times out there...

I had a similar situation when I purchased a pistol from a much loved forum that we are probably all familiar with. This guy delayed and delayed, avoided my calls and emails (of course, he was very responsive prior to me sending my PMO...), and then I got word that it should have been received at my FFL. He was trying to claim his FFL should have shipped it out to me, and maybe they 'lost' it. I tracked down his FFL (large retailer), told them what I was dealing with, and surprisingly got some pertinent details that helped me confirm that this guy was screwing with me.

Long story short, I left a voice mail message, and email, saying that I was concerned that since I did not receive the gun, I am going on the assumption that it has been stolen during shipment. I explained that stolen guns are a serious issue for a gun owner, and it would need to be investigated by law enforcement. I said that I was going to call the local PD, Postal Service, BATFE, etc. I also explained that I used to live in this guys hometown and am friends with the police chief there. Well, wouldn't you know, the guy's wife calls me the next day to say that she would be shipping out the gun; 2 days later I got it! BTW, I really am friends with the chief, and this guy did himself a favor by coming through with the gun...

As it turned out the gun was in very good condition, but not the "mint" condition as described :( I really think some of these guys are just down and out, and will scam you if they can. All in all, it was a very shady situation, and I was happy to have not been taken for the dough... I am much more inclined to buy local, or doing some due diligence to make sure the person selling is reputable.

good to hear one of the good guys got a 'semi-good' resolution.

Cheers to you Lonnie, coffee's on me next time.
