I find myself enjoying .22s more and am wanting a small auto, and I've had Brownings and Rugers and I liked them, but I'm wanting something more like a Sig or a Walther. Both of them seem a little cheezy and I have heard that some can be picky about ammo, but they are inexpensive and look cool and I don't need target accuracy, just decent short range plinking accuracy. The Beretta Cheetah looks like a great gun but it is way more money than I am wanting to spend, so any preferences on the Mosquito or P22?

Maybe I got lucky but my P22 has functioned perfect with every kind of ammo from the high dollar stuff to the cheap stuff. I think the thing is pretty accurate too. I like mine!!

My P22 is "fun" to shoot(has a "cool" factor but for the price of them the accuracy stinks. They try to justify that by saying it is a plinking gun. But what are you gonna plink if you can not hit it.? The SW 22A though weird looking is way more accurate and inexpensive. I am used to Ruger and Buckmarks. The only caliber Sig I do not have is the 22. I believe they have fixed the reliability factor of the Mosquito now so I would think it would have to be more accurate than the P22. It's better made also IMHO.

I might trade my P22 for the Sig.

+1

Ive had absolutely no issues w/ mine and is very accurate.

I've shot a P22 that belongs to a guy I work with. No problems functioning. decent accuracy, but too small for my hands. It was like I was holding a gun made for a child.

I bought a P22 for my petite wife and she loves it. Have not had any issues with it and we find it accurate enough.

Bought a P22 for my daughter a few years ago. She loves it. She will shoot a whole brick of ammo if I let her.

The grip is smallish for average size hands but fits well in smaller hands. The gun has never had an issue.

The Sig feels real good in the hand. But the last time I looked at the owners manual, it stated to use only ammo like CCI Mini Mags. A little spendy for plinking.

I've seen rental P22's break but I couldn't tell you the round count. It certainly won't last as long as a Ruger or the like but for casual plinking I think they are fine.

I bought a Mosquito a couple of months ago. Manual suggests CCI mini mags. It functions well with them, no jams yet. But less than 200 rds through it. Manual also says to keep it lubed. There's a little hole on the side of the slide for that. Just a drop in there. Accuracy decent enough for target and plinking. It comes with two extra different height front sight inserts. Also comes with a different recoil spring for ammo other than high velocity.[I haven't tried that yet]. All in all I'm happy with it.

My girlfriend has a P22. I've considered getting one for myself. It's accurate and fun to shoot. The only problem it has ever had was the last round would sometimes fail to feed. We got a new magazine and that one has had no issues.

I have had a P22 for about a year and its a super fun gun. The earlier production guns had a number of issues but Walther seems to have straightned them out. I usually shoot a whole Wally-world Federal 550 round value pack when I use it. It never stops being fun, but by the time I get to the last 50 rounds I get some hang-ups/FTFs. The gun then requires a good cleaning. I find it to be a surprisingly accurate little gun, too. The one bad things is spare mags are spendy, the cheapest I have found is around $28 from CDNN.

I had a P22 and traded it in for a Sig Mosquito, the Sig is the better gun in my opinion. More acurate, better overall quality. I have shot some 8000 rounds with the Sig now, takes all ammo, there are two different slide spings included, one for target ammo, one for high velocity ammo.
For me, it's the Sig.
