Diana is a Freedom Fighter, more Libertarian than Republican or Conservative.

She believes in Personal Property Rights, that the owner of personal property can define what is allowed on their property. That's probably where she conflicted with the NRA's "parking lot" legislation, an issue they've had at the top of their Want List the last couple of years ... an issue that's divided us here on occasion.

Diana has more Liberty and Fight in her little toe than some of the NRA members I've met. Protecting your right to shoot defenseless ducks with $2000 shotguns has nothing to do with the Second Amendment.

I've had the same problem with the NRA's endorsement of local candidates. As I understand it, they send each candidate a questionnaire about their views on gun rights, and they base their endorsements on the responses provided by the candidates. I also suspect they endorse politicians who have toed the party line in the past rather than take a chance on an untried newcomer. The NRA is a single issue organization and they could well endorse somebody who is a complete boob except on the issue of run rights. Frankly I toss their endorsements in the trash and make up my own mind.

Fact: The lady candidate filled out the questionaire indicating she favored local option to regulate guns and did not support concealed carry. Was it a mistake, or did she mean it?

Either way, how is it NRA's fault she gave Brady answers on her questionaire? All they did was post the results.

I am not impressed with their record. And an organization that tries to get it's creds trashing others fighting the same cause is an abject loser from the start around here.

You can say anything you want to make yourself or someone else look good. There are some things about the NRA that I don't particularly care for; however, the fact remains that were it not for the NRA we would not be able to own private firearms today.

No organization is perfect but the NRA has stood against the gun grabbers since before many of us were born and they are still the best bet we have.

I am a member of both organizations. (I think I need to renew my GCO membership this month.)

It is apparent that GCO is playing David to NRA's Goliath in Georgia. I think some of the leadership think they can get more mileage out of trashing NRA than actually trashing antis.

I don't know many details about the current flap. I would suggest, however, that if there was/is a "misunderstanding" of a question put to her by NRA, that she and/or her staff should get their collective ducks in a row so they might achieve a better result next time.

I have to say that GCO has accomplished a good bit in their brief existence. Anyone who thinks GCO can carry the load and scare the pants off politicians like NRA is fooling himself, though. NRA is the reason that GCO can exist and fight some battles in Georgia.

A: solid pro-gun candidate.
AQ: progun candidate who's rating is solely based on his responses to the NRA-PVF questionaire.

C: Not necessarily a passing grade
D: An Anti gun candidate who usually supports gun control legislation
F: True enemy of gun owner's rights

I am not 100% on all NRA attitudes and sales gimmicks, but the same can be said about our Gov't. (Current Commander in Chief excluded).
I believe they try but sometimes lose their way.
On a side note, I think there is a valid case with this arguement.

What does chap my backside is all the sales gimmicks being mailed to me these days.
And the "your membership is going to expire". <--in 9 months!
How many engraved Tommies, Engraved gold inlaid folding pocket knives, and $3,000 engraved Model 627 Pros does one need?
Last year I joined and the "gift" was an NRA range bag. Later that month I received a letter asking if I really wanted them to mail me my range bag. They said they'd rather use the extra money for fighting for my rights!
The sales gimmicks are wearing thin these days.

I care about GCO, and GOA for that matter, because their self serving trashing of the NRA makes the NRA waste valuable money and resources defending baselesss charges. It certainly does not further the RKBA cause.

Here in my state, Indiana, The NRA endorsed almost all the liberal democrats. The Legion did mostly the same. I hope people look at more than if the candidates filled out the questionaire "properly" before they vote for a candidate.

There are more things looked at than just the answers on a questionnaire.

How has the candidate voted in the past? What platform have they taken over time?

It must be considered that most voters do not know the record of those they elect. They take a couple of issues they agree with and vote for the person.

Diane Feinstein and Sarah Brady own guns and possess concealed carry permits. Does that mean they are pro gun? They both say publically they are not trying to take away guns from people.

If voters were informed the way they should be, the current crop of elected officials would not be in office.

Ok, I have done some checking on this lady using her own website and her own words.

1. She does not have a college degree. While having a degree does not make one smart, it shows determination.

2. She has never operated a business. She is a flight instructor. She also worked as a civilian employee for the military which means she may have been a typist or a manager but does not say what her responsibities were.

3. When asked about age, marital status and other points of concern, she answered: "Considering her past worldly experience, she is most proud of her children and grandchildren." None of which answered the questions asked.

4. No military experience but she did serve as V.P for a Chamber of Commerce. She does not say how she feels about the military.

5. Religion: She is active in her church. She does not say what denomination or how long. She may be Methodist and they have an anti gun platform.

This lady will not even give a phone number for her campaign office. Her website asks for money but does not mention her stand on the Second Amendment or gun rights but rather promotes her once serving as a V.P. of a Chamber of Commerce in a small town.

So we do not know her age, her marital status, her religious affiliation, how to contact her by phone or what she believes in. She has no business experience and she does not provide information as to her background.

Would you vote for this lady on what is known about her or for what she said on a quesitonnaire?

Won't vote for a liberal democRAT no matter what the NRA or anyone else says. All you're doing is ensuring wacko's like Pelosi and Schumer get to stay in the majority, chairing committee's, chipping away at our other rights.
For me it's not just about the 2nd A, but the whole Constitution, that matters.

The preimptive question was something she did not understand when filling out the questionaire. Georgia is a preimptive state, we just shot down two local ordinances (one county & one city) in the last year based on current state law.

I read David Codrea's article when it was first posted, the writer lost credibility with me about half way into the article. He kept referring to Ms. Williams as Ms. Wilson, he has since corrected this. However the damage was done to me with this writer.

GCO has done a lot in the last couple of legislative sessions for 2A rights in GA, I'll refer you to HB89 and most recently SB308 from this year's General Assembly session. SB308 replaced a 140 year old Jim Crowe law from post Civil War era. GCO was in large part responsible for lobbying this change to GA firearm laws and it is a huge step forward to those of us that routinely legally carry a firearm with a GWL.

I don't have any use for GOA or the Georgia affiliate, GCO has proven that it has what it takes to get 'er done for those of us in GA. No I don't always agree with everything they do but they have the connections in the gold dome to get things done and move 2A laws forward.

Diana is a firm 2A supporter, she isn't a career politician as oldman45 pointed out. However she does have some very good ideas she has brought to the table. She is a far cry better that the incumbent, Sen. Ronald Ramsey, who sponsored SB12 which would require serialization of ammunition. Mr. Ramsey also is employeed by the DeKalb county school system, this excludes him from voting on 60% of the state budget...education. He has played the political game to his benifit for far too long.

GCO did contribute $500 to her campaign for her stance on 2A issues. The NRA ranking has since been changed to AQ since she has no previous voting record.

Agreed oldman45, I haven't been to her web site in a very long time. If you lived in the district she would have made a point to meet you and talk to you. She has been active in our county government as a spectator for quite a long time and often makes comments during that portion of the meetings. In short she has been very involved in the community. This is something you can't read on a website.

She also has been involved with the local 2A movement through her involvment with GCO. It's rare that she would miss a local GCO event, thus the strong support from GCO. She does indeed have her GWL (Georgia Weapon License), if memory serves she carries a Bersa 380. I've tried to sway her towards the light .

She is indeed married, her husband owns/operates a small moving company. He too is very involved in the community but does not have what you would call political ties. He like Diana often makes comments at the local commissioner meetings.

In all she is a good candidate, however she is running for a state senate seat that is contained within the 4th US Congressional district which for the last two terms has been occupied by such great (note sarcasim) names as Cynthia McKinney and Hank Johnson (tip me over Guam). It's an interesting district to say the least considering the county is the second smallest in the state. If you browse the forum in the second link I posted above you will get an idea of the political landscape that is in the county, I own and maintain this forum for community information about the local government.
