I'm 50+ and my eyesight is fading fast.

I have a 442 that I pocket carry on occassion. However, I do not shoot it that well. It is my only revolver so I am sure that more practice with it would be beneficial. On the other hand, I do EDC an MK9 IWB so its not as if I have no DAO familiarity. I simply do handle the 442 that well and am wondering if a new or different sight picture would help.

I am wondering if there is something that I can do to increase the visibility of the sights (ie enhance them/replace them, etc.) or do I trade it for model w/ different sights? All of the semi's I own are 3 dot or 3 dot n/s. Maybe try to standardize?

Appreciate your opinions/experiences.

I'd just get ct laser grips and be done with it. It's not a target gun, it's a "put five in their face and run" gun.

Yep. This is a gun that benefits greatly with the installation of laser grips. My S&W 642 wears the LG-405 grips and they are outstanding.

A M&P340 has a much better sight picture with the front night sight and the wide U on the rear. I have a 642 and a M&P340 and the latter is much easier to be accurate with. For me with a 2" snub, accuracy is putting all hits on a paper plate at 25 yards.

Thanks...The laser and even the 340 are both things I have considered. It's nice to know I'm on the right track anyway.

Can I ask what the recoil is like with the CTC405's. Same, better, or worse than the factory grips?

The LG-405 has a rubber pad on the backstrap to help absorb the recoil and it does the job well. Let's face it though. The gun will never be a pleasure to shoot but it is a great self defense pocket gun. I bought my laser grips at the following link and call each January for "free" batteries. They have excellent customer service.
