Bought a Sigma 40 about 3 years ago and was always kind of secretly ashamed shooting at the range among all the guns that were 3-5 times more expensive. My sigma has been my primary carry weapon and got over my secret shame through time. Earlier this month I bought a M&P 9c with ctc grips I fell deeply in love with it the moment it touched my eager little fingers. I paid well over 2 x the amount I paid for my Sigma, I instantly disregarded the Sigma and came Damn near trading it in for a cheap used revolver, I told myself I'll wait until after I shoot the M&P, and I was glad I waited. The day after I bought the M&P I went to a local range with 200 rounds of Independance 115 gr 9mm luger the little guy shot beautifully a little low and to the left after about 150 rounds which I've read is common for a new gun. Took the gun home to clean it thouroughly and graduate it as my new carry weapon as I started field stripping to my shock the surface of the tip of the barrel was checked and marred up took the gun to the dealer I bought it from and was informed I would have to send it back!! It's been over 2 weeks still waiting I'm not bashing S&W at all from what people who have had a similar problem S&W makes it right but does not give an explanation. I have a great respect for my Sigma.

Sigmas are reliable, dependable weapons and an excellent SD weapon, a large group of those doing the bashing are people who never owned one and are just parroting something they read.

Yeah, people used to polk fun at my Hi Pernt collection until their expensive custom guns quite working and mine still shoot. I feel your pain, bro.

Threads like this only invite more ridicule.

And I owned one ten years ago. I took it to a gunsmith to see if the trigger could have anything done. I was ordered out of his shop if that was all I had. The ordeal was an eye opener. I'm sure it was functional, but it just wasn't for me. There is nothing wrong with entry level. The 28 was supposed to be a "cheap" gun at one point...

Some shoot the Sigma and are not accurate with it. They blame the trigger pull etc. I blame the shooter. Had my SW9VE at the range Friday morning. Very accurate handgun. As with any handgun it takes time and practice.

I understand the Sigma isn't for everybody. Some "elite" can't seem to figure it out so they bad mouth it. Guess the Sigma brings their "elite" ego's back down to earth. We who can shoot the Sigma accurately can bascially shoot any handgun with success. I've picked up a Glock 17, 357 686, and a 45 Cal Glock and had success. Sigma has made me a better marksman.

That's how I feel, if I hadn't shot the Sigma for 3 years I would be retarded at the range with my M&P. The Sigma in any Caliber is a fine firearm. A hard trigger pull in my opinion is a great training lesson.

The Sigma fills the niche of the old Model 10. An economy pistol for entry level and security guards. It works. It's grip is very good for small hands. The trigger pull is appreciated by some folks and some companies with insurance.

Who notes his wife like the Sigma 9VE better than the SWaMPy 9c!

Who cares what others say about your gun? It's not like they are telling you that your girlfriend or wife is ugly. The pistol is just a piece of metal and plastic that propels a bullet. Stand next to them and show them that you can hit the bulls eye. Then turn around and look at their target and say "wow, are you having a bad day, or is your ********* malfunctioning?" Then say "wow, if I paid that much for a pistol, I would sure expect it to shoot better than this cheap Sigma." Then to top it off, say " maybe you should trade it in for a Hi-Point. Then maybe we could have a little friendly competition."

Let them have their fun, while you smile and think about all the extras you can afford with the money you saved. No use getting offended. You chose the Sigma and you like it. That's all the matters. Like a Ford, it gets you where you want to go and is dependable.

I guess I just don’t get why someone would think someone else is an “elite” for not caring for the Sigma. I guess if they get all ugly about it then that is one thing. But turning around and getting ugly right back at them isn’t much better. The Sigma is a decent entry level pricing gun that I’m sure S&W sells a bunch of each year. The new SD line seems to be nothing more than a fancy Sigma while the M&P’s are just finely tuned Sigmas with some internal changes. Maybe it’s a little more than that but you can still see the lineage of where the M&P’s guts came from. But it does remain that the trigger takes some getting used to and some just don’t care to have to get used to some things when there are so many other options out there. If that makes me all “elite” than at least I’m special about something instead of just in my mother’s eyes…

Well, just got back from the range and tore the heck out of the head and center mass of the target with my Sigma, but I did notice something right away. After firing approximately 1500-2000 rounds through it since I got it, the trigger is not all that bad anymore. I don't know if it's me used to it or if it is the trigger loosening up, but what a world of difference. What a nice feeling...makes me want to go back and shoot some more. Glad I got the Sigma....guess I'm stuck being one of the "un-elite"...lol!

:D

Pistol matches start here in about a month. Last year I placed 8th out of 25 with my sigma. The glock was the cheapest gun out there (other than mine) all the way up to the pro line smith 1911's.

I'm heading out thursday to the range and planning on putting 200 rounds down with the my Sigma. That will make 18,600 rounds with zero FTF.

People can talk smack all they want. I'll be waiting for them to back it up.

The only time "elitists'" break my heart is when they get elected to public office. Other than that, their opinions are insignificant.

Ok, time for a Sigma party at Lee's house.

Lee, let us know a time. You supply the carne asada. I'll bring frijoles and tortillas. 357, what you bringing? :D

Anytime my friend, anytime!

.357 has the highest round count, so he gets in for free!:) LOL!

Hell, I drive a Pontiac Aztek and like Nicholas Cage movies. Who gives flip what people think. Enjoy your gun.
