OK, how about the Best Pizza??

Her in Columbus there is Tommy's Pizza at 1350 West Lane Ave, it's a mom and pop place that has been around longer than I have and they make a fantastic thin crust pie with fresh ingredients. There are waitresses there that have worked there 30 years. There are a couple of other stores in town but the original one with the crusty old ovens is the best.

The best from a chain is Pizza Hut.Before you kill me take my word for it,If you haven't been to the one in Nurnberg Germany you haven't had Pizza Huts finest.
And they sell real good beer too.;)

Pizza Hut ranges from 'quite memorable-yum' to 'quite memorable-barf'. PaPa John's has funky tasting sauce. My all time favorite pizza was the rectangular slices sold by the slice at Leonardo's Bakery - at the end of the elevated at Ditmars Blvd in Astoria, Queens, LI, NY. It's been a while, of course... I think it was $.15-.20/slice - big slice - sixties!

I know the worst restaurant pizza I ever had. Noble Roman's in Dayton. I think they took the pie from the freezer, heated a minute with a Zippo, and flopped it on the table. Ditto with chili and or hot dogs in that town. I get grocery store frozen pizza and smother it in Tofu and imitation mozzarella. We've had two pizza delivery guys shot and killed in the last couple years. The now deliver to the curb only in a Brinks truck.

Unfortunately, even in NYC Mom and Pop Pizzeria's are disappearing. Chain pizza places all over.

I think the best of anything is generally what you had while growing up.

But chain store pizza. I would say Papa johns. Unfortunately thy seem to have closed all of the local stores near me.

Small chain called Snappy Tomato is best chain pizza in Oak Ridge.

Mom and pop, world famous Big Ed's.

For a chain, I'd say "Pappa Murphys". I don't know if they are anywhere but the Pacific NW.

They make them, but you take them home and bake them. You know it'll always be "fresh from the oven"when you get it. Unless of course you drink too much and forget it's in the oven! (yeah I've done that)

We have papa murphy's, answer questionaire and get free cookie dough next visit.

Costco combo. ;)

Not the combo for me , but I do admit that Costco's large pepperoni ain't bad at all for $10 and certainly far better than Pizza Hut , Papa John or Dominos. Good spicy sauce. Still gotta sprinkle on some oregano , garlic , and pepper when it gets home.

Good old fashion family owned and run pizza shop by me that has no equal. Been going there for 21 years now. $18 for a large with pepperoni and sausage , and worth every penny.

Believe it or don't , the worst pizza I ever had was in , , , Sicily!

I actually make THE best pizza I've ever had. Especially bbq pizza.
Thank you whoever invented the Bread Machine!

Best chain, by far, is Mellow Mushroom --- mmmmmmmmm

Chain restaurant pizza? I wouldn't feed it to a dog. The best description I have for it is "cardboard with a red sauce on it".

They give up good quality and taste to keep things consistent from store to store and to make it quick, easy, and cheap to make.

Small joints where the dough and sauce are actually made in house.. where real, fresh ingredients are used.. that's the way to go.

Oh.. and off topic: NY style only. If you can't fold it, it aint pizza. If you need a fork... it really isn't pizza.

I don't remember a Greek pizza place in LaPlata. I lived in Waldorf for 10 years. How about Ledo's Pizza in LaPlata and Waldorf? Supposedly, the original store was in PG County near the U of MD. One piece will fill you up!

The place in LaPlata is called Ouzo's.

::Ouzo?s Greek and Regional Cruisine:: La Plata, Maryland

If you go to the lunch menu on the website it describes the types of pizza's. They are fantastic!!

The chain store pizzas are pretty poor IMO. Absolutely the best pizza I have ever eaten is the "Around the World" from Colettas in Memphis TN. Since I now live over 600 miles distant, I never go to Memphis except to attend a funeral.

There is a place near my stepsons in Carthage, NC called Steves. It is not really a pizza joint but my daughter-in-law brought home several types of pizza from Steves the last time we were down there and I think it is the best I have had in a while.

Pantera's was my absolute favorite pizza but I think they went out of business.

That's practically walking distance. Thanks for the tip!

I'm not sure how you're defining "chain". Here in AZ, there's a chain called Oregano's, but I don't believe they have any restaurants outside of AZ. They make a "stuffed" pizza that I love! It's about 2" thick or so, and usually one slice is sufficient for most people. The only down side is that, as they warn you right on their menu, it takes 45 minutes to cook. I understand their thin crust is delicious as well, but I've not tried it yet...every time I go, I have to get the stuffed pizza. Their restaurants are very cool too...kinda small and intimate, lots of 50's-60's "kitsch", and the staff is always very friendly and pleasant.

I like both Pizza Hut and Papa John's. Basically...I love pizza, and could eat it every day, for every meal. No one has mentioned Hungry Howie's...they make a pretty good pizza for a fair price, I like their flavored crusts. I don't know how national they are...but they have them in both AZ and Ohio.
