Winchester M-22

just got back from the range, fired a brick of 500... i do like this ammo for the price, but i did find them to actually be smokey, and hot. i'll still say cci tactical is my fav ammo, but these are definitely top 3 of what i would choose to buy in bulk.

i did have 1 round that wouldn't fire even with multiple clean notches hammered into the rim.

still 499 rounds of winchester for the same price as 375 cci isn't a bad deal.

Have any of you guys shot the various brands of ammo in a dynamic shooting environment? Run and gun? What has worked best for you? I shoot TAC rifle locally and want to give my M&P 15-22 a run this weekend.
I just put some Magpul MBUS on and a Vortex Strikefire RD on this week. I'm gonna zero with Federal Auto-match and cowitness the RD.
I've had no issues with Federal bulk 550 or Auto-match or CCI mini mags. Curious to see which will run the best is a fast moving dynamic shooting arena. We shoot six stages with a minimum 40 rounds a stage, total rounds usually around 250.

i did just start cleaning things up, and i can say, while this seemed dirtier when firing, the residue seems to be finer, and easier to remove compared to my typical 550 round session of federal.

I can't understand why some people bad mouth the Winchester hollow points. Those copper plated 36gr. hollow points give me the best accuracy of any round I have tried- 3/4" three shot groups at 50 yds are common. As my skills have improved, I am now experencing some 3 shot one hole groups. I have not seen that with other ammo. I have had maby one or two failures to feed. I love that ammo!

Same here brother. I've yet to try the "tac" ammo, but I have tried most brands you can buy in bulk, and the 555 is without doubt the most accurate and just as reliable as anything else I've tried. They also don't seem to foul the barrel or reciever any worse than other brands, but then again, I clean my rifle after I shoot, so this hasn't been a problem either. ;)

I'm looking forward to trying the new ammo, and I do appreciate the reviews guys.

i have yet to find any ammo that my gun does not like. Chews them up spits them out. Ive got just shy of 3k rounds and ive only had 3-4 failure to fires and maybe 3 failure to eject. Ive shot some OLD .22 ammo though this thing aswell with no issues.

you guys are lucky.. mine generally isn't too picky, but i didn't make it half way through the 555 box. the hollow tip seemed too pronounced, and easily buckled while feeding. i clean my gun after every 5-700 rounds (every time i fire it basically) and have never before, or since had to tap a brush through (it got stuck.. it was bad.) to remove large deposits of lead like i did with 555. for me personally $5 a box extra is a small price to pay for not having to spend 2 hours removing lead.

the 555's were no where near as dirty as the remingtons that i shot for the heck of it. And IMO they are on par with the fedral bulk.

I have shot a few hundred rounds of CCI minimags but cant justify the price of them, compared to the other bulk ammo.

600 rounds through our 15-22 rifle yesterday and NO failures at all. Not to mention, lots of nice compliments on the rifle.

I finally dropped the $$$ on a double brick of M-22. Factoring in performance, price, etc, this is probably the best 22lr ammo for semi-autos on the market right now. It shot great in my 15-22, yes it's hot and a little smoky but I like that. Thing is my 15-22 will shoot just about anything, but it's range companion, my GSG 1911-22, is a little more picky. Weak rounds from Fed bulk pack will cause it to hiccup. It performed superbly with M-22 today. Positive cycling and the best accuracy of any 22 ammo I have tried in it so far.

The price increase over Fed bulk pack is the only downside with this ammo. But if you decide to try M-22 you will not be disappointed.

We did another 600 rounds this past weekend, and I regret to report that we did have ONE round which didn't fire on the first strike. So far that makes 1199 bangs to 1 hiccup.

Only 99.9167% good? Dealbreaker. I'm out. (obviously joking) Is it really that much better than bulk ammo? I only use my rifle for cheap plinking around, and don't really feel like ordering it online when I can get similar priced ammo in a Wal-mart. If they carried it at a local shop, I would definitely get it.

So far it doesn't do anything better than Wally World bulk Federals for me. I'm trying a brick but can't see switching from the cheaper Federals anytime soon.

i got 3000rounds of these $110 at Scheels this past week...apperantly everyone wasnt sure about it there either and they are 'closing it out' @ $33/ 1000

had great luck with the first 500--NO FTF and 1 FTE probably because the gun was filthy

i reccommend it--but glad nobody bought it! 3000 rounds wont last long around here though lol

That is one of the things I love about the M-22 ammo. For the most part I only shoot .22lr and when I go to the range I will have a couple semi-autos with me. This one round will go through all of my weapons and allow the action to perform flawlessly. My Puma PPS22 is an absolute pain with ammo, and even though the recommended round is above 1300fps at the muzzle, it will cycle the m-22's like a champ. Cheaper than dirt has 2000 rounds at $75 bucks right now too. That's pretty inexpensive for what I think is a great round.

saw this ammo at cabelas the other day, it is a bit cheaper than the winchester super x that im currently shooting so i think i will grab a box next week and see how it goes.

So far it seems to work well for me in my Buckmarks and AR15-22 steel raceguns. going to try it in a match this weekend.
