You do know that S&W still lists them on the website? They are expensive and engraved, and I think they offered standard models back in 2000 all of them in .45 S&W I think, here's the link: Product: Engraved Model 3 Schofield It appears to list for $4500 
I think Uberti under-priced them as the new ones are pretty good quality. Beretta made them too, and I think Beretta actually owns Uberti now, which may have something to do with quality in their newer models. I've read some good things about the new Uberti's, and some bad about older ones.

Ya I just have to have that tree out back grow some more before I can pick it and afford those

They are nice.
I've seen them sold through a few places, Dixie has them but there listed as Dixie/Uberti, so Uberti must make them and put Dixie on them, I would think.
I still want some though, I just love the design of them and how they work.
It's funny that you posted this, I just got done watching the newer 3:10 To Yuma movie were the 2nd in charge bad guy wears a pair of them in double sided rear face holsters. Boy did he learn to work those suckers real nice for the movie. I'm glad that some Hollywood Gun Supplyers really teach these actors how to us the guns.
I've seen were Russel Crow pushes Hollywood to "get it correct" in any movie he doe's were it involves guns / swords / archery.

I had a chance back in 2002 to buy one of the new S&W model 3 Schofields - I was not reloading at the time and pasted on it. If I remember correctly the dealer wanted right at $1300 for it ( I think the msrp was in the $1550 range). The things we end up regretting.
That revolver was gorgeous - the bluing was amazing (that's how I remember it anyhow).
I've see a couple out on the web "lightly used" in the $1700 range lately.
I hope they bring em back - this time in a slightly shorter barrel than 7" and hopefully below the engraved models price

I am very suprized with Cowboy Action as big as it is that S&W hasn't started making them again.
That will be a good question for me to ask on the tour..............

I have bought 2 Uberti Schofields used over10 years ago (serial numbers in the 400 range) and they have functioned flawlessly. They are chambered for 45 Colt, but I load 45 Schofield and accuracy is very good. It is hard to miss those big steel plates at the SASS shooting range using the Uberti's. I feel that for the price offered by Uberti, it is hard to justify buying a S&W reproduction for a shooter. Only downside is using BP, as they get sluggish after a few cylinders full, so I mostly shoot smokeless. I can not comment on how the S&W acts with BP.
If you are buying for a collection, I would buy the S&W, but if you want shooters, buy 2 Uberti's for the same or less money than one S&W.

Curious if anyone owns the Cimmaron. I see that it is chambered in .357 Magnum and wondered how well that works, and if it's safe. As I understand it, Cimmaron does make pretty good quality firearms. The new Uberti's look pretty good to me, too, I would be satisfied with one, I think.
You would recommend the Uberti then, glowe? Thinking about one in .38 spl if I hear bad reports on the Cimmaron, but would really like to see one in .357 mag if it's really feasible. They seem to go for about the same, retail. Man, guns are expensive these days!

Check out the used guns on Gunbroker, etc. and watch auctions. You should be able to pick one up for a decent price. Retail for a new Schofield is over $1000 now. I think that Cimarron, Navy Arms, and other brands are all made by Uberti, so search using those trade names as well as Uberti.
I cannot find any information on the manufacturers’ website referencing 357 magnum. I see both Cimarron and Uberti make 28 Special, but no mention of 357. I wonder if someone is modifying the chamber?? Maybe someone else knows the answer, but I would be very cautious about the long term safety of shooting magnum loads in a top break gun.

I have a Uberti-Navy Arms Schofield, a couple years old. The fit and finish is perfect, though maybe not S&W quality, as I don't have one to compare. I don't think the blue is a deep and dark as the Smith version.Mine is the Wells Fargo version, 5 inch. It's new and unfired, I put it in the back of the safe and kind of forgot about it until recently with all the Schofield threads.. Some say the Navy Arms guns are top notch, I don't know. The billboard on the side is a bit too much, though not as bad as Rugers I've seen. This one is 45 Colt, is there any other worthy caliber? Well maybe a 44 special would do also.
