I was wondering if any of you had the smaller Hogue bantam wood grips on your j-frames. I am looking at a set of these for my 642. I love Hogues wood grips and also want to stay with something similar in size as the stock rubber grips as I pocket carry a lot. I've noticed you don't see these for sale as much - not as much as the larger j-frame Hogue grips.

Pics or other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

The Bantam's came on my 340 PD.
They feel great, but a little sticky in the pocket.
Call Smith & Wesson and order the old Uncle Mike's Boot Grip.
NOT the one's on the new guns. (Too squishy)

I'm looking for wood in the bantam-style. I prefer wood and love the smaller bantam style with the back strap and bottom exposed like the stock rubbers. It's just not so bulky in the pocket. Magnas might be a little too small even though I like the look.

For comparison purposes, at the top are Uncle Mike's boot grips, at the bottom are Hogue wood boot grips.

If you call Hogue directly and pay a little extra,
they will make you a wood grip just like the Bantam's.

Yes, those are the ones. Hogue calls them bantams on their website
Coco Bolo - Orange to dark with deep figure : Hogue Inc., The Best Value In Handgun Grips, Rifle Stocks and Accessories - Bar None!

How do you like them. I want checkered, but wow at the price. I actually found a set of smooth ones used but unused for about $40. They are a very light colored tan wood.

The stock grips work, but I just have this thing about revolvers and wood I can't get past.

Les, Craig Spegel is another option for a wood boot grip. The rubber Uncle Mike's grips are based on the wood ones he produces. Esmeralda also makes nice wood boot grips for J-frames.

Les,
Natchez shooters supply has them in stock, concalo' s for $57.95.

My wife has the wood bantams on her 640. They are difficult for me to get a grip on from IWB. I can only get 2 fingers on the short grip. They feel like holding a golf ball with the short palm swell grip. They work well for her. I have the wood monogrip on my 640-1 and like the extra length. Both grips really dress up the guns.

I think my wife just bought the used but unused set on ebay for me for v-day. I dropped a hint... emailed her a link, lol. We'll see. I'll keep you posted and will get some pics if she did. Thanks all!

If memory serves, I bought these from a forum member in like new condition for around $35. I like 'em, basically the same as the boot grips only wood.

Altamont Boot Grips and the price is right. Altamont - Pistol Grips

I really need to break down and try an Ahrends boot grip, but I really love this one. Also, my 637 now wears some checkered magnas and a BK grip adapter that gives about the same feel in hand. I don't have a pic of that one yet in that combo.

I thought I'd show you guys what I ended up with... the Hogues in pao ferro. Here she is with her bigger brothers

I also wish Hogue made the wood Bantam just like the rubber ones. That little bit of extra on the bottom of the grip makes a big difference in the feel.
